Bluewater Seafood — Restaurant in Spring

We decided to meet my brother-in-law, his fiancée, and my wife's mother for dinner on September 5, 2021, (time on the receipt is 7:05 PM). They had wonderful things to say about the other location since they had eaten there a week or so ago. We were very disappointed in our visit to this location. We both ordered the Bluewater Boil. I believe mom ordered a bowl of gumbo, which she stated was good. Unfortunately, the Bluewater Boil did not reveal the same positive outcome. The crab legs were either freezer burnt and/or over boiled. The meat was mealy and waterlogged. The corn on the cob was over boiled as well and was extremely chewy and the only flavor really was the seasoning. The sausage was chewy, but did have good flavor. For the price we paid, I really expected the food to be better prepared. I can say the shrimp was boiled properly, but for the rest of the meal...can't say that I will revisit this location again. Service was okay, but nothing to brag about. You might ask why I didn't say anything that night...we waited a bit longer than what we anticipated for our meal and we were all very hungry. The atmosphere was relaxing with the fan and mist, but the fly catchers in the corner of the patio did give off a bit of an odor that my wife was able to smell. We were also very surprised when we received our bill and a 15% gratuity was added on both of our bills. Wasn't aware that a gratuity would be added for five people sitting together. The young man that served us was phenomenal!! His name was Trey. I've had bad dining experiences at plenty of restaurants in the past, and my response was to just not return. But this visit truly deserves a review. We ordered several appetizers and 2 entrees. Boudin Balls, "Blackened" Boudin Links, Red Beans and Rice, Bacon Wrapped and Crab Stuffed Jalapenos, Ettoufee, and a Crawfish po-boy. Soooo.... The Boudin Balls were okay. Not terribly flavorful, but okay after downing them in ranch dressing. Everything else was unbelievably bad. It was shocking. I've seen so many good reviews for this place! Did you guys get a new chef, or new vendors? Jeez! The red beans and rice tasted like cardboard. No flavor at all. The "blackened boudin" links were the polar opposite. The were so incredibly salty that we were unable to eat them. Same thing with the jalapenos. We unwrapped them and ate just the bacon, because the crab stuffing tasted like a carton of salt as well. My son asked me to taste one of the crawfish from his po-boy....AWFUL! Absolutely no flavor at all. And please stop serving the ettoufee, I mean, what was that supposed to be? We still tipped the waiter $20 because he was so nice, but I hope they don't tip share. That young blonde hostess (I won't type her name due to her age) was horribly rude. The flavored teas are...

When we walked into the restaurant, no one was there to seat us so we just found a place to seat ourselves. Waiters just kept walking by without acknowledging us being there. No one asked us if anyone was helping us, or if anyone had come by to take our orders. So we just waited.

Finally, I walked outside the restaurant and came back inside after a couple minutes. When I came back inside, someone was finally at the front desk. I asked her if they served food at the restaurant. She said “Yes”, so I asked for someone to help me. I showed her were we were seated, then she found a waiter to help us.

The waiter was very knowledgeable and pleasant to deal with throughout our interaction. We placed our order for drinks and food. When the food arrived, I was not pleased with the overly salted mixed vegetables and blackened catfish I had ordered. It was so salty that I could not eat the mixed vegetables. The fish was salty too, but not as bad as the mixed vegetables.

I told the waiter that the mixed vegetables were too salty. His response, “Yes they are a bit too salty to my liking as well.” I won’t return to Bluewater on FM 2920 and Rhodes Rd again do to the overly salted food. If you have High Blood Pressure, you may want to...
