After a long, long day , we had not eaten anything all day, and we were starving . I looked up places to eat in the area as we only had 30 minutes before everyone closed. I saw the photos of the food there, and my mouth was watering . It looked delicious. We walked in at 8:35, and the look on their face was as if they had wished we hadn't. They immediately told us that the kitchen was closing in 5 minutes. So if we were going to order they said you have 5 minutes to order and if we could order in 5 minutes then we could eat there. I have never had any restaurant tell us that we have 5 minutes to order with having 25 minutes till closing. Closing at nine means you can order until nine. At least that's the way it should be. The menu was huge, and we had never been there before. After seeing the photos, we saw a lot of things we wanted to try, but we didn't know the name of the plate. And o my having 5 minutes to order, we were scrambling to find something. So, the first thing that I recognized was the orange chicken, even though I really wanted sushi. But we didn't have time to even read the menu, so I just ordered what I recognized. The food came out pretty quickly, so there was no way it could have been made fresh. And I don't believe it was. Although quite flavorful, the chicken was very hard as if had been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. The rice was also kind of crunchy as it was not nice and soft as it should have been. The fried rice upgrade was just white rice with soy sauce. Not worth the extra $1.50. So we decided to order the real fried rice with all the goodies, like chicken, pork, shrimp, egg etc.. I let my husband have the 2 shrimp because he loves shrimp. The pork was bad, like rotten , and had probably been sitting out all day, so we had to pick that out. The rice was exactly the same as the other rice , not fresh, and it was crunchy. My husband had a dish with shrimp and chicken and jalapeños. He started to get sick on the way home, and he was sick all night . So, needless to say, we were super disappointed. We WILL give it another try, because the photos of the food looked really good and the menu is so large. And of course we will go early to see if the food...
Read moreOkay sooo... I am a regular customer since Rakuu open their doors because I used to work close by. I went yesterday and decided to dine in, I was seated right away, the boser can to take our drinks right away, I asked for a Jasmine tea, and the boser brought it to me and left, but did not ask me at least if I was needing sugar, and a spoon. I thought he went to the back to get me some but little that I know, he was back with my wounton soup, and I asked if he can please bring me brown sugar, he then tells me they don't have brown sugar just sweet and low, and I told please bting me a pack of regular sugar. When he return he brough me a small plate with a load os sugar. I was like ewwwww, hold on seriously!!!!! I did not complain just drank my hot tea without sugar. Once I tried the wonton soup, it did not tastes like iy used tooo before, it taste sour a little. The shaggy dog was on point delicious. I tried the fried rice and a bit dissapointerd but better than other restaurants that serve fried rice. The restaurant looks clean, every table have hand sanitizer. The boser was very attentive after my food was on the table. I am giving this review not to damage thos restaurant reputation but to provides them with a heads up with what went wrong, that way in the future they don't make the same mistakes. I drive 15 miles just to come for their Asian' food because is delicious, I just don't want to get there one day and be upset because my food did not met my...
Read moreTldr; food is awesome, server, not so much.
I will preface this by stating that my girlfriend has been a server for 7 years and most of my friends do serve, or have served. That being said, my standards are probably higher than most.
My girlfriend and I visited tonight (8/4) at around 7:30. We were greeted and seated promptly, and the service started out as well as any. We placed our orders and it went downhill from there.
-I ordered sushi and was not offered chop sticks. -My girlfriend's meal came with white rice, but she requested fried rice instead which was a slight upcharge as per the menu. Upon receiving our meals, there was no rice. When asked about the rice, the server seemed surprised that my girlfriend wanted rice, and stated that "noodle dishes do not come with rice", exactly the opposite from what was clearly listed in the menu. She was quick however, go remind us that if we get rice, there will be an upcharge. -I finished my meal and watched our server play on her cell phone in the corner of the restaurant for 9 minutes before coming to check on us. We were in her line of sight the entire time.
I am usually one to leave 30%+ on meals, knowing that servers make $2.13/hr; however, I couldn't bring myself to even leave 10%.
Again, the food was excellent, but I feel as though this particular person failed at being a...
