This place does really well with their buffet for breakfast the good thing is they also still leave the regular menu open for me to order off the menu orders. My son order a cheese quesadilla off the regular menu item. I had the migas and the beans with diced potatoes. The eggs were unevenly cooked, and some of the egg was over cooked and not really beaten properly so this left some of the egg uncooked and a little slimy the tortilla inside the migas we're not fully cooked so it didn't have that crunch texture that you would expect when eating the corn tortilla inside the egg. Though it was a buffet sitting under the heat lamp the beans were dried out they weren't as fresh as they could have been, for beans. I didn't get to try the cook to order breakfast that they make right in front of you and I also didn't get to experience the full Buffet. I come to find out you during my exiting, while I was checking out. Their sweet bread was part of the buffet there's not really anyone telling you what part is the buffet and what part is not because the sweet bread is on the other side near the entrance. Therefore it look like two separate ordering stations including the one with the girl that's manning there made to order breakfast that would have looked like a third station so the arrangement was a little bit confusing. I thought you were limited to only the buffet station which obviously looks like a buffet in small portion. Overall the place definitely has an authentic Mexican restaurant feel and I'm told that they have karaoke or something about the clear dance floor so you can dance there are two floors in this place to dine in I may have to come back and try the dinner...
Read moreUpdate: Months later I STILL love Celaya's. Read on for my review:
I love Celaya's. Celaya's is the perfect mixture of great, simple Mexican food, a relaxing atmosphere even on a busy night, generous alcohol pours, and great pricing.
The fajitas always come out sizzling on a skillet. The rice is probably my favorite in the city so far. Free salsa and chips, the green sauce is the best one so get extra and pour some on your rice and tacos.
I've tried almost every dish here I think over the 3 years I've been a patron, and can't think of one I disliked. Definitely recommend the steak picado, add jalapenos, get a double side of rice and the garlic butter that comes out with the fajitas. Pour it all over and enjoy!
Margaritas come out gigantic. A large is a LARGE, so purchase accordingly to your lightweight or not level. Super tasty and the best "skinny" margarita around Willowbrook mall area.
Only thing I wish was better was the queso, but it's simple and tastes great so can I really complain? Nah. It's 8/10 queso.
The takeout sometimes feels smaller than the dish you get in the restaurant, but I'm pretty sure that's just presentation. Definitely dine in versus takeout if you can, fresher is better. That being said, takeout always has tasted great still!
Highly recommend Celaya's as a stop, even if you need to drive far to get here,...
Read moreFrom the outside you would think a small, average Tex-Mex place. However, the inside tells a different story. It is beautifully decorated. Colorful and eye-catching. Extremely spacious with plenty of walking room between tables.
They have a "banquette" area upstairs for large events and a beautiful bar area. Their food is delicious and portions are very generous. Without a doubt, they make the BEST Charro Beans out of any restaurant in the area. Which says a lot, because I am super particular as I make my own and have perfected the recipe over years and years of practice.
Their fajitas were good, wonderful char flavor that needs just a hint more citrus. The Enchiladas Suisas (sp?) were out of this world. And if you want an unbelievable Margarita.... ask for the top shelf.... their bartenders know how to make a customer happy 😉
Customer service was spectacular. Employees are friendly and very accommodating to your needs. The kitchen staff are extremely talented. The restaurant itself is kept very clean and running smooth as butter.
Yes, I highly recommend checking them out..... and returning over...
