Let me start this review by saying: if you’re a fan of slow-smoked meats that melt in your mouth, Dickey’s Barbecue Pit delivers the goods. I had the pleasure of visiting one of their locations recently, and from start to finish, the experience was genuinely satisfying. I ordered the classic brisket with a side of fries, and I walked out both full and impressed.
Atmosphere & First Impressions
Dickey’s has that cozy, rustic feel you expect from a barbecue joint, with wood accents and the warm, smoky aroma that hits you the second you walk through the doors. It smells like Texas comfort, like mesquite, oak, and tradition. The layout was clean, open, and inviting. There were a few families dining in and some solo diners as well, which gave the place a casual, welcoming energy.
Service: Friendly, Fast, and On Point
The staff deserves a mention before I get to the food. The service was excellent, quick but not rushed. I was greeted warmly and didn’t feel like “just another customer.” The employee who took my order explained the meat options clearly and gave me a couple of tips on sauce pairings, which I appreciated. My food was brought out quickly but with care, fresh off the line, not sitting under a heat lamp.
The Brisket: Tender, Juicy, and Perfectly Smoked
Now, let’s talk brisket, the crown jewel of any barbecue plate. I ordered the sliced brisket, and the first thing I noticed was the visible smoke ring around the edge of the meat, always a good sign. The brisket was beautifully marbled, with enough fat to keep it moist but not so much that it was greasy. It was fork-tender, practically falling apart, but still had that slight chew that gives brisket its signature mouthfeel.
The flavor? Deep and rich. The smokiness was balanced, not overwhelming, and paired incredibly well with the house barbecue sauce. I tried both the original and spicy sauces, and each one complemented the meat without masking its natural flavor. You could tell this wasn’t rushed. It tasted like it had been slow-smoked for hours, as it should be.
Fries: Crisp, Golden, and Surprisingly Excellent
I’ll be honest, I didn’t expect much from the fries. I figured they’d be a filler side, maybe something frozen and reheated. But no. These fries were hot, golden, and crispy, with just the right amount of seasoning. They had that perfect crunch on the outside and a fluffy interior, clearly made fresh to order. They weren’t greasy or soggy, which is a common issue at many fast-casual places.
And let me say this: dipping those fries in the barbecue sauce alongside bites of brisket? That’s a combo I didn’t know I needed. It was comfort food at its finest.
Final Thoughts
Everything about this meal felt thoughtful. From the careful seasoning and slow smoking of the brisket to the golden fries and friendly staff, Dickey’s Barbecue delivered a solid barbecue experience that hits all the right notes. The food was hot and fresh, the meat was delicious and smoky, the fries were unexpectedly awesome, and the service was great. What more can you ask for?
Whether you’re craving a quick barbecue lunch or a hearty dinner, Dickey’s is worth the stop. I’ll definitely be coming back, maybe next time for some pulled pork or ribs. But for now, that brisket and fries combo is going to live in my food memory...

This was not just a disappointing meal. It was one of the worst dining experiences of my life. I came to this Dickey’s with a group of eight to ten people, and I wanted to treat them to good barbecue. Instead, I walked out embarrassed in front of everyone, furious that I wasted one hundred dollars, and disgusted that I trusted this place with both my money and my reputation.
The only good thing in this entire visit was the man at the counter. He was polite, professional, and tried to do his job the best he could. Unfortunately, he was the lone bright spot in an otherwise catastrophic experience. Everything else that happened was a disgrace.
I was steered into buying a $100 party platter. It was recommended to me directly, and it sounded like the perfect option to feed my group. I handed over my money in good faith, only to be told after I paid that they did not even have enough food to make it. That is not an accident, that is deliberate dishonesty. They sold me a meal they could not provide, and then shrugged it off like it was nothing.
What they slapped together instead was pathetic. The brisket was bone dry, with no flavor, no smoke, and the texture of old leather. The sandwich came with cold, unmelted cheese thrown on top as if they could not even be bothered to melt it. The sausage was stone cold, like it had been sitting in a fridge. The fries were soggy, bland, and tasted like they had been sitting under a lamp for hours. The sides were an outright insult. The corn and mac and cheese tasted microwaved and processed, like something pulled out of a freezer box.
Even the water was disgusting. It tasted like dirty tap water, and it was the final insult on top of an already miserable meal. When a restaurant cannot even get water right, it tells you how little they care about anything they serve.
This is a restaurant that calls itself a barbecue pit. That is laughable. I saw no smoke, no seasoning, and no pride. I have seen more smoke come out of a coffee shop than from this kitchen. This was not barbecue, it was lifeless slop disguised as food.
And the worst part was my guests. Every single person at the table was disappointed. They were looking forward to a proper meal, and instead they were served cold, dry, and tasteless scraps. I felt humiliated. It was not just bad food, it was a bad reflection on me for bringing them here.
I spent one hundred dollars and walked away empty-handed, angry, and embarrassed. A clean dining area means nothing when the food is inedible and the service is built on deception.
This was not simply a bad experience. It was a total failure of a restaurant at every single level. It was a graveyard for food, a place where culinary dreams go to die. Dickey’s should be ashamed to have their name anywhere near this establishment. This location is an insult to customers, a scam that takes money without delivering quality, and a disgrace to the very idea of barbecue. It does not deserve to be open...
Read moreWe chanced upon this little gem yesterday. First impressions were that this place was pleasantly serene for those who love eating without 'noise'. Would be ideal for business meetings and company gatherings. The place is hip enough for the Gen Z and Alphas, cosy enough for Boomers or even gen Xers really. Has alfresco and indoor dining plus take out and delivery. Hubs was quite apprehensive in getting anything Mexican because he says most places usually don't meet the mark. Thankfully his questions were answered by Faris and he succumbed to the brisket tacos. According to hubs, the sauce did it for him. Food was served in a timely fashion by Reda, piping hot and fresh from the kitchen. He took the trouble to select condiments suitable for the platters. This was one of the rare moments hubs DID enjoy the food and looked happy to eat out as opposed to eating at home. As for me, I was recommended the TX sando. This was my first ever chicken sandwich. Didn't disapppont. The sandwich was massive! I had the 'Xtra hot'. If you're from SG, this would be your choice or higher. Unfortunately they don't have hot tea to go with that and i brought back the other half of the sandwich to eat at home with my hot tea and it was perfect! If you're a Gen Xer, Boomer or frm SG you'll need that tea with the Xtra hot (byo chai/teh tarik maybe?) The experience being attended to by both Reda and Faris was humbling. They constantly attended to and checked on us to ensure were were comfortable and enjoyed the food. There was no boring moments engagin with them. It felt like hanging out with your own flesh and blood and it was a humbling experience to have this level of hospitality juxtaposed with kindness, respect and generosity being shown to us despite us being the unconventional crowd (we're elderly and boring). We were even given some free drinks! Thank you for making our day. Anyone reading this, give it a shot. This could be your go-to 'place' for those who are looking for one? You never know.
