I generally let poor service go without a second thought but for the health safety of others, I am sharing my experience at the Donut Hole on Spears Rd this morning. Mind you my family has been going here for years with no concerns but after today, we will not be returning.
Due to their donut selection being very slim I opted to inquire about the kolaches. I do not eat meat and have actually just recently began eating cheese and dairy and so forth. I asked the young man behind the counter if they perhaps had any kolaches that do not contain meat. He indicated that all collaches contain meat. I said that's too bad, I was really hoping to find one with ONLY cheese. He then offered me two options and when I asked to confirm only cheese, he said yes. Which took me by surprise based on his earlier response. I purchased the kolachi along with a blueberry cake donut and left the shop. When I arrived to my destination, I opened the bag only to find a kolachi with sausage. Initially this was ok, as I thought I'll just take out the sausage and give it the dogs. But as I began to pull back the bread, I found there was not any cheese.
I immediately returned to the shop to ask if they may please exchange for one with cheese and I would just discard the meat. His response was that I would have to pay for another one. Needless to say that did not sit well with me. So I asked him to clarify that due to his mistake I would be charged an additional cost, to which he confirmed yes. He understood that he made a mistake but I still would have to pay because he cannot sell the one I had due to the bread being pulled back. I asked him and the other person working in the shop if they could just replace it since it was my not my mistake but theirs and both refused. So then I asked that if the bread had not been pulled back if he was going to put it back out for sale then I could have gotten another one and he said yes, as he cannot lose money 2xs.
So my long story is to just share be careful going in here because apparently they will put items back on the shelves once it has left the store and there's no telling what may have happened to the item before being returned.
In any event I left without food and without a refund. Honestly my review is not even about their lack of customer service or that they have a poor exchange policy when they make the mistake, it's the fact that they would put food back on the shelf once it's left the building....
That's just...
Read moreThis is one of my favorite donut spots for sure! I love the boudin kolaches (spicy or regular), the sausage & jalepeño, and they even have Earl Campbell sausage kolaches. They have a variety of donuts too. My favorites are the old-fashioned iced blueberry & the eclair bars. I like how they don’t pre-fill the donuts and eclairs too because then you can pick whatever fillings you want. And they make their donuts fresh every day. The employees, I think they’re the owners too? I’m not quite100% sure, but they’re super nice & the lady is so sweet, always asking how my kids are doing & throwing extra goodies in the bag for them. If you live in the community & haven’t been, you must try it at least once. Support local businesses, especially ones in the same communities you grew up in. Why...
Read moreDon't be fooled by the simple and old school aesthetic of this place. Their food is delicious, and the lady at the counter is very nice. I enjoyed the breakfast sandwich (the one that looks like an egg & sausage McMuffin). The biscuits are much more moist and softer than McD's. Could've used another slice of cheese (but that's my...
