After many years of being in the specialty coffee industry it's always nice going back and visiting the latest shops.
I will preface that the staff here are all sweethearts and their service is impeccable. The atmosphere is cozy with some interesting design choices some better than others.
But my qualm is with the coffee. The espresso was bitter. Very minor hints of notes attempted to shine through but were muddled with ashy, and burnt flavor notes. There's a lack of variety as well, you would think a place referring to themselves as "craft coffee" would have more than just a house blend on espresso.
For the people of the suburbs this is exemplary, but for those that have been around, theyāll know.
Why be enough when you can be great.
My suggestions? At least one other option for your espresso Take your time to properly train your baristas, you're doing them a disservice and theyāre the ones that have to bear with your customers. This includes proper steaming, dialing in regularly, etc.
Just a former barista sharing their thoughts though. Do what you will at the end of the day itās...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe food was pretty good and I loved the coffee, but the customer service was not great at all. I did not see a sense of responsibility from the employees. I ordered food and waited in the shop as well, after waiting about 15 minutes I asked the cashier and he was confused and didnāt even know what I was talking about and he asked the guy in the back and he was like āI am about to clock out, no sandwiches at this timeā????And I am being told this after waiting and paying for the food. At this point I was just over it and asked for the refund and decided to leave. And now everyone is trying to get me the refund and this guy comes over with the sandwich āwhose sandwich is this, it has been ready?ā I am like that what I was asking for. How am I supposed to know if it has been ready or not? Almost all of the employees just standing there talking and nobody even bothered to let me know that the food was ready! My first time at the shop and heard so many good things about this placeās coffee, but I was not looking forward to get...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe selection of coffee brews is fantastic (Chemex, aeropress, pour-over, and even Siphon). The prices seem a bit exorbitant, maybe because of the proximity to Bridgeland. They don't even do refills on regular drip coffee. The menu is clear about their beverages and food choices which is helpful for those who have never had craft coffee. I ordered the Red-Eye (coffee Americano) and my wife enjoyed her matcha. Overall the beverages were delightful. 9/10 The atmosphere isn't great. The chairs are uncomfortable and wooden. The space is very loud as well. Conversations carry and a few people is enough to fill the room with noise. The set-up is minimalist which is nice for focusing on work. 5/10 The service was mediocre as well. We weren't greeted when we came in. We weren't engaged while we ordered or waited and there were few people here. I'm going to include the lack of refills in this section because that seems like a basic courtesy for coffee providers. 4/10 I will likely come back. This place has a lot...
