I would not normally write an explanation like this but this time I think I should. I am a pescatarian but am more vegetarian (really only do fish if my only other option is a salad) and often restaurants can omit meat and add veggies for me. I'm cool with that. When I went to this place, I asked my server if that would be okay after he told me that as a vegetarian, I could get a salad without meat if I wanted vegetarian. (To clarify, there is a vegetarian item on the menu, spinach enchiladas). I just don't want the same thing at every restaurant I go. Anyone who loves food would understand that. There are 4 styles of burritos but only one that really had anything other than meat. The cheapest one is only meat for $12.99. the only one that had more was $14.99. It had choice of meat, with mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, and jalapenos and bacon. I asked our server if I could get that without the meat and maybe more fajita veggies. He proceeded to tell me that they did not have fajita veggies. So I said, okay, how about more bell peppers? He said yes, then told me they have some veggies that they could grill up and would I like those in it too. I said yes. What I got was a flour tortilla with a couple of mushroom slices, carrots, broccoli, and cauliflower that all tasted boiled with no seasoning inside and a sauce on the outside. The grilled veggies on the side were fabulous, and the black beans were stellar, but I felt like I had to power through the burrito that did not have any bell peppers, onions, or jalapenos. I was going to stop the conversation here and just review the scenario from here but after I ate half of my weird Normandy blend burrito, my husband insisted I say something. The server told me he would get the manager. He came back and told me that the veggies had been grilled (they had no charring or flavor so I really don't believe that since they tasted NOTHING like the grilled side veggies) then started to walk away. I asked if the manager was going to come speak to me and he said yes. He then came back again and said that he was sorry and took the blame for the incident. When I asked if that was it, he asked what I wanted kind of rudely. I told him that I didn't think I should pay for the $15 burrito when I clearly got a less expensive burrito. He then excused himself and came back again saying he would make the burrito $13.50 and gave us our desserts for free. I did not need free dessert, I just didn't think I should have to pay for something I did not get. I never did speak to the manager and left knowing that despite the sad attempt to make it right in the end, that I will not be back. My husband really...
Read moreThe girl working the hostess stand tonight (March 19/ 7:55) gave me incredibly rude looks & when I told her the order was made wrong, she seemed to be pretty upset. There is an incredibly big language barrier when ordering takeout because you can't point to what you were wanting on the menu. I've gotten takeout for the past three weeks, one day out of the week, and the order was wrong nearly every time. I usually try to pronounce what I'm wanting, and they'll read the order back to me and the order sounds correct over the phone, but I'll be given the wrong thing When I arrive in person. It would be nice if the staff was taught to communicate with their main demographic better by learning a bit of English. Not saying this in a way that is supposed to come off racist, but out of concern for the future of the business. If there is a huge language, barrier, and staff are not understanding English, orders are going to be wrong and customers are going to be very displeased. I think this is a reasonable concern that needs to be addressed with the owner and managers. Someone who speaks good English should be taking the takeout orders so that there is less misunderstanding between the two parties. The food is great, and always usually tastes really well, but overall the staff and takeout needs to do better regarding how the customers are served and maintaining correct orders upon request. Like I stated before, if your main demographic is white people who live in Montgomery TX, you should learn a bit of English in order to make sure that your customers are satisfied. I don't believe the customer is ever at fault for these extreme language barriers, as English is a very predominant language in the United States. Just teach the staff a little more is all that would be nice!! I want to keep eating here but if no one ever understands me it is...

We saw Lalo's all lit up sitting back there in the corner. We made a last second decision to give them a shot. Glad the guy behind me had good brakes, we almost didn't make the second driveway.😬
The exterior is nicely decorated and well kept. The parking lot was FULL. Upon entering the restaurant we were very cheerfully welcomed in and promptly seated. The interior is very clean and just as well maintained. Everywhere we looked, people seemed to be enjoying their experience. As soon as we were seated, a young lady brought chips and salsa. I asked for Salsa Verde and without hesitation there she was back at the table with salsa in hand. As others have mentioned in previous posts the salsa bowls are a bit small for the chips, but the flavors well make up for it, and it is reported that they will bring larger bowls upon request.
I ordered the taco plate "Los Primos" with two fajita tacos and Charro beans, my wife ordered the same with chicken and refried black beans. Both meals were excellently prepared and plated very nice. My fajita tacos had a generous portion of meat which was excellently seasoned. For dessert I had sopapillas and my wife had the Flan, which she said was very creamy and delicious. Despite having a packed house, everything we ordered and any extras arrived very quickly.
In the past we have settled for mediocre Mexican food... I can now say with assurance, We finally have a Favorite Mexican Food Restaurant in Montgomery.
