Review of Los Cucos Mexican Restaurant, Tomball, Texas Los Cucos Mexican Restaurant in Tomball, Texas, offers a vibrant dining experience that combines flavorful cuisine with a visually appealing atmosphere. Having visited twice, I was eager to see how my second experience would compare to the first. While the food met high expectations, the service faced some challenges during this busy visit. Service: 3/5 Upon arrival, the restaurant was bustling, which may have contributed to the service issues we encountered. We had to request chips and salsa as well as drinks, which should ideally be offered promptly upon seating. Our waitress indicated that the kitchen was experiencing delays, prompting her to ask if we wanted to order immediately. While I appreciate the effort to manage our expectations, it felt as though the service was lacking in attentiveness. Despite several pass-by's from our waitress, it took significant time for our drink refills to arrive, which detracted from the overall experience. However, I understand that busy times can strain waitstaff, and I hope this was an isolated incident. Food: 5/5 The culinary offerings at Los Cucos are undoubtedly the highlight of the visit. I ordered the chicken tortilla soup and a fajita taco, while my companion opted for the fajitas for one. The chicken tortilla soup was a standout — bursting with flavor and featuring tender chicken that elevated the dish. The fajita taco was equally impressive; the meat was incredibly tender and flavorful, paired with a buttery, homemade tortilla that truly stole the show. The fajita mixed platter was a delight as well, with perfectly cooked chicken and beef that melted in my mouth. The only hiccup came with the charro beans, which had an unfortunate burnt taste. Fortunately, they were quickly exchanged for refried beans that were delicious and complemented the meal beautifully. Atmosphere: 4/5 Los Cucos boasts a beautiful and classy interior, setting it apart from other restaurants in the area. Upon entering, the decor exudes a sense of elegance, with breathtaking wall art and an inviting ambiance. However, one design element caught my attention: the painted trees that adorned the walls. While the rest of the decor was sophisticated, these child-like drawings felt out of place and somewhat detracted from the overall aesthetic. A more refined representation of the trees would have enhanced the cohesive look of the space. Overall Experience: 4/5 In summary, Los Cucos Mexican Restaurant is a place where the food shines, delivering authentic flavors that are hard to beat. Despite some service shortcomings during a busy period, the delicious meals and beautiful atmosphere left a lasting impression. I am eager to return, hopeful for an even smoother experience next time. If you’re in the Tomball area and craving exceptional Mexican cuisine, Los Cucos is certainly worth a visit.

My wife and I went to the newly rebuilt (post fire) Los Cucos on SH249 for lunch, and I was very pleasantly surprised. Since a few years ago I stopped going to Tex-Mex restaurants - including Los Cucos) since I preferred genuine Mexican food. So, I wanted to go here for a re-benchmark of my preferences. As we entered, we were blown away with what they had done with the place as the open layout, and decor was very modern but still with a hint of the culture which it allegedly represented. The layout was also the reason I dropped a star on the rating, because the place is noisy. Voices carry and the ambient noise was almost bordering on irritating when the restaurant was about 70% capacity in the main dining area. There is a separate room that was unoccupied when we were there. The staff was welcoming and friendly and our waiter was quite good. The nibbles were brought out promptly, which if you know in a Tex Mex place is nacho chips with red and green dipping salsa (not even pico de gallo). It was fresh and the salsas were tasty but not spicy. We ordered Lunch Chicken Fajitas for my wife and I got the Combo Tradicional. Took maybe 15 minutes to arrive and was steaming hot. We both found the food delicious, and I was blown away by being happy with the taste of every thing on my plate, even down to the salad. There was a green mayonnaise (?) based sauce that was the best sauce on the table and I considered getting a refill! Nothing was spicy, however, and I had asked for some chopped up serrano pepper on the side but I guess our waiter forgot; I didn't remind him because he was so nice, and the food was so good. For drinks my wife stuck to her water but I wanted to test their Jamaica, which turned out to be good and not the most expensive I have bought. We initially were going to get Tres Leches to share (just to see how good theirs was) but the waiter upsold the Tres Amigos which included a big square of Tres Leches, as well as coated ice cream and some churros. Delicious! We had to get to-go boxes for some of the food and some of the dessert. Prices are not inexpensive, but for the quality of the food, the service and the decor It is okay value. Would I recommend this place - absolutely! Would I go back? Probably but I still prefer a more "genuine" experience. And some fresh pepper heat.

Had such an awesome experience at Los Cucos in Cypress. I don't even live in Cypress, but I'd heard so many great things about this location and how it was "one of the best", so my friend and I drove over to see what the hype was about. This location is HUUUUGE and is perfect for any party or friends/family get together. They have a patio too which is great for a nice day in Houston! We ordered their limited edition/exclusive "El Jefe 2" margarita and OOOOO it was delicious. This marg was made with tequila made specially for Los Cucos and tasted so fresh and refreshing with lime juice. We were pretty hungry so ordered the family appetizer, which I recommend to anyone dining at Los Cucos with a group because you get to try a little bit of everything (nachos, quesadillas, stuffed jalepenos, and more), and you don't have to argue about which appetizer to order. Then we ordered the Delicioso grilled platter which is hands-down my favorite. I cannot get enough of the shrimp fajitas at Los Cucos -- The seasoning is perfect. Perfect amount of garlic, butter, and different spices that literally have it melting in your mouth. Plus, with the grilled onions and peppers it's just TOO good. The Delicioso also comes with chicken, carnitas, and beef. Again, a little bit of everything. K and dessert...I'm a sucker for the churros so had to get some to go. I was too full to eat them at the restaurant, but they definitely made the perfect midnight snack. Highly recommend Los Cucos & the Cypress location! Trust me, I've had alllll the tex mex you can, and I 100% think Los Cucos is just as good as any other at an affordable price. Lidia was our server and was seriously the sweetest. So attentive, kind, and made sure we knew what to order.

My family and I just had a terrible experience on 10/04/25 at 11:30am. More disappointing is the fact that we talked to the manager on duty and he didn’t do anything to rectify the situation and didn’t acknowledge our family when we left. He was standing in the front area when we walked by him, and he completely ignored us knowing we had an awful experience.

We go to this location every weekend so we order our regular meals and never had issues before. I ordered a fresh lemonade for my son and the waitress brought a HI-C fruit juice and disappeared. Then, the waitress comes back and the first thing she saids is the “kitchen doesn’t read so they have to remake your son’s plate”. I know from that point, the waitress was the issue. After waiting for my son’s plate, the waitress brings a plate with the wrong side. She proceeds to flash the ticket with the order she entered and pointing to the ticket that it comes with refried beans when I had clearly told her we wanted fries with his plate. I don’t need more excuses, a simple “I apologize for the wrong side. I’ll go get the fries for your son..” should’ve been the end of it. My husband is holding our son’s plate and the waitress proceeded to pull the plate from his hands! My husband immediately told her that she needed to leave the plate because our son has already been waiting and she argued that she was taking the plate to fix it while trying to take it from his hands a second time! We couldn’t believe how rude her behavior was so I had to step in and firmly tell her to let go and leave the plate. At that point, I flagged down an employee and requested a new waiter. The manager came over and was informed of the situation and we expressed how taken back we were with her rude behavior. The manager left and I could see him checking our order on a screen by the kitchen entrance but he never came back. My husband ate his food upset and the manager made zero attempts to rectify the situation. He never came by to ask how we were doing, if we needed anything, and did not even “attempt” to comp my son’s drink or plate. For us, it’s about the customer experience and we’re extremely disappointed the manager on duty showed zero empathy for a family of four with 2...
