I want to lead by saying I’ve been going to this restaurant for the past 2 1/2 years. I’ve had very little issues with anything. Me and my son loved going and we made so many nice and special memories. The owner was always very sweet, several of the servers really make a point to get to know you and your order. We’ve been going less frequently because it started to feel less and less welcoming and warm. I am not the only one to feel this way, but I’ve been trying to push the feeling aside because again, we truly loved going there. Today was the final time for me, I think. We arrived around noon, it wasn’t super busy, breakfast rush seemed to have just passed. We were seated immediately but ended up waiting about 10 minutes before anyone came over to us. Not a big deal, servers get busy, not a problem. We ordered our food and drinks with our server. She brought our drinks but then didn’t check in on us again until 10 minutes after we had been received our food. Food took a while too (again not an issue), but she never stopped by to check in, or offer a refill or bring condiments or syrup- nothing. Still at this point I’m thinking “Oh she must just be really busy”. So I start eating my food and I find a hair. This is not the first time at this location, I usually would just avoid the hair and not say anything. I’m not a big complainer, I’ve been a server and a cook at a breakfast restaurant. I know stuff happens. This hair however was slightly wrapped around my chicken tender and stuck to it. So in this one particular incident, I decided I was going to say something, because I can’t eat that. I waited 15 minutes for my server to reappear. I was turned around in my booth visibly waiting and looking for someone to help- so many employees just ignored me. Again, I know they’re busy and doing their own jobs so I wasn’t that pressed. I didn’t pull anyone else, I just waited. Finally I catch her attention, show her the hair, she leaves with the plate saying they’re gonna remake it for me. No worries, I was very understanding, things happen. She brings out my remade food and I asked if I could get a ranch. She said sure and disappeared, I assumed to grab it. She never came back. I just sat there, my remade food getting cold in front of me. She served other tables in the area occasionally but it felt like she totally forgot I was there. And I waited and waited. My son is long finished with his food at this point and although being far more patient than he ever has been is starting to ask me when we were going to leave. Still I waited. I was there for 20 minutes waiting for ranch. I finally decided to ask a nice girl walking by if she could get me a box, some ranch and a coffee to go because I hadn’t seen my server in a while. She did, immediately. And then without me asking or saying anything that same girl (not my server) came back with my check. I walked up front to pay, by my choice the girl did offer to cash me out. Across the restaurant is my server at the mimosa bar, talking with a coworker. She saw us up front, still didn’t attempt to talk to me or ask how my remake was or apologize for leaving us there for ages. She just continued on talking. Alexis is the name listed on my receipt so I’m going to assume that was who it was. Alexis, I don’t know if you were trying to avoid me, or you forgot about us. I’m a very chill person. I really genuinely wasn’t bothered about the hair or the waiting, what was upsetting was the way it felt like we were invisible. Like we didn’t exist. Like we weren’t sat in your section waiting for you. Especially in a case where someone had an issue like hair in their food. I’ve been a server, I get when stuff happens or you’re having a bad day. This didn’t feel like that. I have never not tipped, ever in my life- Until today. The care and interaction and warmth I used to feel at this location is almost gone. It feels like they don’t care if you return or not, you’re just a table to feed and turnover. And that’s fine if that’s the business model but it’s so sad on the...
Read moreHonestly if I could put a zero star review I would, but here comes your one star review. I ordered quite a big order for five people, and not only did they mess up my order, they belittled me over the phone. I ordered over the phone AT 11:45, and was told the food would be ready in 20 minutes. I got there AT 12. I walked up to the counter, and asked for the order. They told me it wasn’t ready so I waited in the seating area RIGHT NEXT TO THE DOOR WHERE THEY COULD SEE ME. I saw a girl bring several bags up, set them behind the counter on a shelf, then walk away. THE GIRL who told me to sit and wait didn’t acknowledge me, and kept standing there at the counter. Finally, almost 30 minutes since I arrived, I walked up and said, “I’m still waiting for my order.” Finally she tells me, “oh yeah I guess that’s for you”. Really?! So I took the bags, drove back to the office, and I opened everything and gave my staff their food. That’s when we found out about the mishaps. We were missing a salad, a dressing, and a drink. None of the stryofoam containers were lined, so the hot chicken had melted through one of the containers resulting in styrofoam sticking to chicken! AND they over charged me. So I call around 12:40-12:50, and I’m very polite about it, just asking for the missing things, or for them to refund me for what they didn’t give me. They said they would call me back. Never got a call. So I called again around 1:45-50. JESSICA apparently didn’t know if she was a manager or not, so instead of giving me a manager, she decides she can take care of my problem. I let her know about the missing things, the screwups, and the overcharge. I didn’t want a whole refund, I just wanted my total adjusted, or for them to give me the things they left out. When I commented on the food being cold, she told me, “Well it’s really just a preference.” Then proceeded to tell me, “how do I know you’re not lying if you won’t bring me the food back?” When I told her that I had been there for over thirty minutes she said she doesn’t believe me, so she wanted to roll the surveillance tapes back. Seriously! This restaurant staff needs a class on customer service. I will NEVER go back there again. Subpar food, subpar service, and subpar,...
Read moreI edited my review after I did some research to be fair and objective about it, I researched prices, people's experience, and competition near by.
Aubrey has grown substantially in the last three to four years, the new residents are moving into nice newly built neighborhoods and along with the older residents of Aubrey expect to be in decent settings and enjoy good service, if a business wants to survive the transformation to much bigger and food diversified crowd and more competition, they will need to change not ignore and over charge.
Here is our experience:
Outdated place, not very clean, entrance looks like a store more than a restaurant / Café, one server when we walked in and then another showed up a few minutes later.
We ordered the Avocado🥑 on toast and two eggs with Waffles and coffee. The toast was not crispy, slightly browned and the Avocado was just crushed and spread on the bread, no lime, no salt or pepper, nothing. Since the bread was not toasted enough, we ended up with soggy bread with crushed avocado and sundried tomatoes? Where did that come from? First time ever.
A competitor up the street serves the same , but much better dish, it comes with Multi grain fully toasted bread, Avocado, Parsley, Lemon, Avocado Oil, Himalayan salt, two eggs and fresh fruit. What we had at this Starwood café was Bread, not toasted enough, mushed Avocado and two eggs, and a small fruit for $13,99, the competition dish was for $10.95,. We asked the server to why there were no salt, pepper ..etc on the Avocado and he said “We told the chef but he wouldn’t do it. !!!! The slices of soggy bread and mushed avocado with the coffee and order of 1 single Waffle were almost $40.00 !!!!
The server was a man of fewer words and looked unhappy, we weren’t trying to chit chat with him but you are a server and need to wear a smile sometimes and be more pleasant. I hope that's not too much for you.
Other Starwood Cafe menus show the price for the same dish @ $10.49 but this Location (Aubrey) is $13.99 !!!! The Aubrey location is neither as modern nor as appealing like any of other close by locations like Frisco and Denton and they charge $10.95 for the same dish.
The only thing that worked out was...
