Heard from a friend this was the best sushi spot in the greater New Braunfels area. So, of course we had to try it. Our neighbors and us took the short road trip from our neighborhood to the Canyon Lake area to see for ourselves. We got several bowl selections and apps. I also got a couple of rolls, because that’s what I wanted, lol.
Dam Good Sushi Roll 3/10 - this was the “customer favorite” according to the menu. It was a “Lightly Fried Shrimp & Crab Rolled. Topped With Seared Peppered Tuna, Spicy Mayo, Eel Sauce, Sriracha & Jalapeños”. It sucked. Was very disappointed in the lack of flavor.
Yellowtail Maki Roll 2/10 - it is a “Fresh yellowtail rolled. Topped with green onions”. It also sucked IMHO. The fish didn’t taste or feel fresh. It lacked the signature element that makes it good. Freshness.
Egg Rolls 4/10 - these were “Two lightly fried chicken egg rolls with a sweet chili dipping sauce”. The sauce was store bought it seemed like. The rolls themselves were below average.
Hawaiian Bowl 2/10 - the menu said “Teriyaki chicken, pineapple, carrots, edamame & avocado topped with teriyaki sauce, green onions, sprinkled with sesame seeds”……but the flavor profile was non-existent. Sadly disappointed! The few pineapple pieces were ok, but the fried rice was terrible!! Sorry, but it was not good at all.
The other 2 bowls we had were the same. No one ate more than a 1/3 of any bowl.
Service 3/10 - was expecting more I guess. Order at the counter and it’s self serve after that.
Atmosphere 3/10 - the chairs outside were flimsy AF. I actually fell trying to sit in one because they are extremely cheap folding chairs and mine was jacked up. When I sat in it it folded underneath and I hit the floor. The employee outside didn’t even ask if I was ok. Wow!
Overall 2/10 - personally, I wouldn’t recommend. I truly want to support local businesses, but you really gotta give me SOMETHING though. Sorry, but it wasn’t a good experience, especially for the...

She doesn’t serve you anything, grab you anything, and if you want to sit outside be prepared to ask for a wet towel to wipe the dirty tables with yourself because they don’t wipe them down. She’s polite, not rude, but absolutely zero service at all - go get your napkins there, plates there, etc yourself — lol. As for the tables outside —-They were dirty with sand and rained on and dry again so haven’t been wiped down properly since the last rain - which was days ago. The sushi is small and skinny and tiny. No more presentable than you’d find premade at the supermarket. We spent $130+ on 3 andults annd a couple children and were still hungry after the meal. Literally had to eat somewhere else after within less than an hour. Smallest sushi I’ve ever eaten any sushi spot and we’ve eaten many across the USA. This place is for people who do not care about service - as you won’t get any service / you are pointed where ru get napkins, throw away plastic eatery plates. I would rank this place in one of the worst sushi I’ve eaten across the USA — with most the others being great. Whoever thinks this is good sushi obviously doesn’t eat out much, anywhere good for that matter. All it would take is a competitor to come into town, provide good service, cleaner environment, and bigger better tasting sushi rolls and this place would not make it. It will do fine from people strolling through town, those staying on a trip, etc as they’d not return - but any repeat business they are getting will quickly be lost to any competitor who makes the wise decision to set up in town in Canyon Lake. My suggestion is to drastically improve in all regards before someone decides to invest in becoming...
