I have loved this restaurant for awhile now but was disappointed with my last visit. Since it is a 45 minute drive from my house I probably won't return. Our waiter was great but, for some reason, a girl kept coming out to check on us and she seemed pretty rude and impatient for us to leave. The restaurant was nowhere near full and we were sitting outside where there was only one other table occupied. Two of us were there for about 6 hours in total because one was running late and we waited for her to order. We all ended up staying to watch the karaoke that they had going on that night. One of our party tried to order another drink and we were told that we could not order any more drinks because we "had been there a while." We later found out that the length of time we had been there was not the real reason that we could not order drinks. It was their drink policy, one large and one small margarita is their limit. I completely respect a drink policy designed to keep people safe and reduce liability for the establishment. However, their drink policy is not posted anywhere and you are not informed of it when ordering drinks. Personally, I find it embarrassing, and a bit offensive, to be cut off at the bar and to be told it was because I had been there too long. Like I said, I like the food and the drinks and have always had great service here in the past. My husband and I used to frequent the restaurant because we had family living nearby. I chose this restaurant to take two family members I had not seen in a while because the food and service were always consistent. This might have been a one off but there is no shortage of tex mex restaurants closer to my home so there is no reason to drive 45 minutes to a place that makes me uncomfortable...

We decided to try this restaurant last night. For a Saturday night, there weren't a lot of people dining in the restaurant although the bar had it's fair share watching an Astros game. The chips and hot sauce were ok. Chips weren't to thick, and the red sauce was served warm like I like it. They also had green sauce which is normally a plus for me but this green sauce was not the best. I decided to get the catch of the day which turned out to be Mahi Mahi. It was served over rice with a mushroom sauce and a side of grilled vegetables. Unfortunately the fish was cut thin and overcooked and the rice was dry. I did like the grilled vegetables which included cauliflower, broccoli & carrots. My husband and daughter in law ordered Tacos Del Mar. They said their food was ok. My son had Fajitas which he said was very good. Once we ordered our food arrived fairly quickly, however before we ordered our main meal, we had to go in search for our waiter twice to order appetizers. Toward the end of our meal, my daughter in law took several of the kids to the bathroom and my husband got up to take a phone call. Our waiter showed up and started removing plates from the table. Plates that were still practically full. I asked him to please leave the plates as we were not finished, which he did but then a few minutes later came back and again started to take plates. This time I told him to please not touch the plates and that I would let him know when we were finished. On a positive note, the bathrooms were clean (at least the womens). Bottom line, I have no desire to go there again but perhaps my son would....

I have been to this place quite alot and a few times, have said I would never go back. Although, this past Sunday sealed that into a promise. My husband and I went with another family to have lunch. The service was the normal slow bad service we are used to, but our friends had not had this before. The chips were not good. Had to keep asking for refills on drinks. They waited so long the ice was melting in the dinks, I had to ask for the old to be poured out. The main thing that seal us to never return is my friends were overcharged on their bill by $15.00 and the manager refused to change the bill. The bill was added on her cell phone calculator she showed them and the refused to change it. Also I am handicap and went to the restroom and waiting on the handicap stall. I had to go bad. I looked at the other stalls the are all good size stalls but they would not work. I have to have the bars. The person who came out of the handicap stall was a worker at the register who was a very small petite person. I was very angry. I feel she had no right to be in that stall when there were two other stalls empty and the place was not busy. We also had to ask 3 times for our bill so that we could leave. I will never go back to this...

I grew up in Magnolia and left pretty soon after highschool. Came back to the area this weekend for a friend's wedding and took a trip down memory lane! My family went to Ranchero's just about every Saturday with my grandparents after church. I still remember their original location around the corner. I grew up on this food and have always considered their salsa and chicken enchiladas to be the standard. This did lead to many disappointments later in life. 😂 But coming back it is absolutely just as good 11 years later! What a joy it was to come back here today. Beautiful restaurant, absolutely stunning wall murals and cultural art. Food was out quick, everyone was very friendly and kind, very attentive service. Rancheros will forever be my favorite Tex-Mex restaurant. Until next time!

Wait staff was really odd and mute. One guy just appeared and mumbled “do you want something to drink”…. No greeting or anything else… my only response was do you work here…??? I had no idea who he was. The food was extremely blahhhh and the margaritas…. Well, the attached picture…. This was my old glass they removed from the table, only to later serve the same used glass to another member of our table some time later… This is my lipstick… We were absolutely horrified and disgusted! Avoid this place at all costs, because if this is what they are doing with glasses, imagine what they are doing with food 🤢🤢🤢🤢

7 Siete Leguas used to be our favorite all-time go-to for the BEST Mexican food. Now that they are gone, Rancheros is the next best place around our area. We especially enjoy their outdoor dining patio and their bar. The bathrooms are clean. Their fajitas are not as good as 7 Siete Leguas, but tasty enough to order just to enjoy the venue. The bathrooms are clean, and the service is prompt and friendly. The margaritas are pretty tasty, too. (On a side-note, 7 Leguas still has a restaurant near Lake Conroe on 105.) We still will make the drive up when we feel up to the 25-minute drive.
