So I just happened to be in that area where they're located. Heard about it from a friend who's home is basically right next door. I will warn you now. This is most likely a takeout and delivery type place. They only have about three tables. I do wish they had more who knows maybe in the future they will. They don't have any Fountain drinks so you're stuck with bottled sodas if you're okay with that. We ordered mozzarella sticks. And they were cooked perfectly. Nice golden brown on the outside all the cheese still left in the inside. My wife had the spaghetti and meatballs. Now she always asks for her marinara on the side. And the meatballs have to be separated. She's a vegetarian so she asks for no meat sauce or meatballs on the side which I wind up having the meatballs. Those meatballs are huge and they are some of the best meatballs you're going to have cooked well seasoned well. Meatballs are easiest to make and also it shows you whether the place takes pride in what they do or if they're just plain lazy. And it looks like they take pride with their meatballs LOL. I had the meet lasagna that you see in the picture. Very well made some places you use your fork and your lasagna falls apart this one pretty much stays together. That's another Telltale sign. Each meal for an extra $2 you get a side salad. Salads are decent portioned correct for a side salad. No the only thing I think my wife had a complaint about was the marinara she wished it was sweeter she likes the sweeter tasting marinara. I enjoyed it the marinara here. I'm sure next time maybe she can make that request who knows. I will say this if you happen to be in the area stop by you will not be disappointed. I'm sure their main income is their Pizza which by the way I've had it before and it is good pizza. But stop by and pick yourself something up if you live in the neighborhood and haven't eaten here. Start you won't be disappointed. Edit* I dropped it down to three stars. I guess I was misled by the menu as I looked at my receipt. So after my wife's spaghetti with meatballs. I believe the spaghetti was $9.99 plus $5 for meatballs plus $2 for a salad. Which comes out to about $17 for a plate of spaghetti. Next to rice pasta is one of the cheapest things to buy and serve. So after seeing this on basically charging you a la carte for every little thing. I will certainly not be back....
Read moreI went to this place because I try every pizza place in town. A bit pricey for a large cheese $21. The pizza crust is good , the sauce is passable and the cheese is like the cheese they use on a Costco pizza. Don't believe me go try it and make the comparison. Anyways the reason for the three stars are for a few reasons. The woman Sofia is making pizzas and handling the register without washing her hands. I saw firsthand but it may have been just that one time who knows.
It's hot in that joint. No one is going to sit down and eat in there. There was a delay in getting the Pizza which was not a big deal but she said because there was a switch in possibly rotating employees. In this case the female who took my order sounded like her and not another female so it seemed like an unecessary excuse.
Lastly I paid with cash and the cashier opened the register and there was no change. He called Sofia and she looked in the register and no change. She than proceeds to ask me do I want my change. I was like well yeah it's an unspoken rule to get your change. I thought to myself isn't that what people get when they buy something. It was comical and I just said forget it. I thought is it that hard to give me my change or just laziness on her part. It's the principal and I did have a tip in my pocket but decided to just keep it based on her absurd question. I use my quarters for car washes and etc. It makes me wonder how this question is often asked , with no change being present. All in all I consider other pizza establishments better and it's a one and done. I also like them because I get my...
Read moreTonight was our first time trying Sofia's. Coming from Philly it's been hard finding a good, high quality and local tasting tri-state/New York style pizza. After ten years, Sofia's fits all three! Unfortunately, we usually order our pizza well done or extra crispy due to the floppyness of local joints. Tonight we just ordered two pizzas and nothing else. Both pizzas would have been amazing, if they weren't burnt. Weirdly enough, burnt in the middle of the bottom of the pizzas. Coincidentally there was little to no cheese or sauce in the middle which may have caused this issue. Overall the pizza has a great sauce, but there was next to none on one, and just enough on the other. Cheese was also a big issue! Hopefully paying for extra cheese next time will fix this issue. Overall, too many bubbles due to lack of topping. It was really burnt which forced us to make a second dinner for our kids, and finally a little heavy on the cornmeal. I love a crispy crust, but the cornmeal grit was too much. Despite this, we will be back! Hopefully next time the extra cheese and sauce might fix most of the issues. I don't mind paying extra...
