I had a quick bite to eat at Taqueria 39 on 495 and Taylor road in Mission. It's a small taqueria, ( then again most are) with a modern vibe. Nice artworks, hanging lights, and practical seating. I ordered Trumpo tacos and a diet coke. Once I ordered and sat down a selection of salsas were brought to the table, as well as, a cup of beans. I was told the Habenero and pineapple salsa is only served on the weekend, It was one of the best salsas I've had in some time, It was really good. My tacos arrived along with the baked potato I ordered, my potato was cold, not even warm, but it was replaced by a steaming one. The tacos had tender pork on soft corn tortillas, were well seasoned, and came with grilled onions. The Tacos were pretty good. I wish they were the traditional six tacos normally served in the RGV, but only four on the plate. I really liked the place and I want to bring my wife to eat here, she loves tacos.

DONT JUST THINK ABOUT IT! GOOOO‼️ I give this a place a 5 star! Service was amazing food was great! Some places I skip the beans served before your meal BUT THESE beans were so good I would’ve asked for more, if I didn’t get the 5 tacos. Everything was juicy! Servers checked on us frequently just to make sure u have all the bells and whistles and that’s what’s important because some places just take ur order and u never see them while u are in need of cilantro, limes, dollop of sour cream etc. But honestly, sauce, chips, salt&pepper is all in front of u on the table, and the servers get u beans, chips, & limes! Money well spent! Only bad thing about them is 😩I wish I was closer! 🤣

Adios and Goodbye Taqueria 39, ....$12.40 for 5 small tacos, $2.76 for the drink and $15.50 for 4 small tacos, a potato and drink is WAY TOO EXPENSIVE, add $2.53 tax plus $1.23 just for using your bank card is WAY TOO MUCH; the total was $34.42. On top of that, they also ask for a tip. Wife and I could've eaten a nice sit down fully waited on dinner for less than this. The meat quality has also gone down, I had to spit out several pieces of fat and nerve from the meat which I never had to do before. This was the last time that we will give these people business.

Overall, a bit disappointing. The restaurant is clean and well decorated. Cashier seems a bit inconvenienced about you ordering. It's a relatively new taco joint, so I would expect a bit more interaction to try and get the customer base excited. Not going to happen. You have two meat choices, fajitas or trompo. Corn or flour tortillas. They have baked potatoes and other menu items, but the best thing they better have is tacos. I had the trompo on corn tortillas and they were alright. Meat was moist, but a bit on the oily side. The beans were watery, hot sauces were alright. The corn tortillas taste like there might be a bit of wheat in them, they're a bit on the brown side instead of your typical white or yellow colors. Waitress was friendly.

I think if you're going to offer only two meat choices, they better be out of this world, otherwise, expand your menu to include tripas/mollejas/bistek. For $8.99 I was expecting something beyond the norm.

Sorry, but if you're looking for selection, El Papa Taco is right across the street. It's not as fancy as this place, but you get more value and choices for your...
