Tacos Tumbras does not care about this community and even more importantly the children in it. They clearly care about bottom dollar and although I respect the need to make money any good local business needs to understand in The Dalles caring about the community is the difference between success and failure. Recently they were asked to host an covid-19 vaccine event for children. From the minute we placed our order to the moment we did not ever receive it, it was clear they were there for all the wrong reasons. Tickets were handed out to the children for a couple tacos or a cheese quesadilla as a reward for their bravery. I am confident Tacos Tumbras received fair financial compensation for these tickets but if you paid for your food with a ticket and tip(yes, I even tipped more them fairly) they moved it to the back of the line. We watched customer after customer receive their food, most of which it was obvious they purchased more than just what the ticket awarded them. Finally when our number came up, over 30 minutes later, which was totally out of numeric order, they handed the order to another “paying” customer who even admitted it was not theirs and we suggested it might be ours. This is the moment we walked away and the server just ignored us amd pulled the food back in. Again, I am sure they were well paid for hosting this event but I guess it wasn’t enough for them to get a kid out of the cold and help them feel rewarded for what they went through. It is hard to describe the disappointment and disgust I felt watching this in action. Almost as much disgust as I felt watching the owner of the truck scratch his parts in between taking orders and the smell of rancid cooking oil. These guys should be ashamed of how they handled this event and themselves. The children should have been treated as a priority, personally, I will never buy another taco from this stand and I hope you all will stand behind me. There are other good taco trucks in town, please...
Read moreFood was great. Location was great, which enabled us to get onto the freeway easily and the pricing was on par or better than other food trucks. They were running a special when we arrived on their tacos, which were $1.50 apiece. We ordered several different types and enjoyed all of them. They were loaded with plenty of meat and cilantro, and onions. One of the burritos we ordered was huge and were unable to finish eating it.
The fries were very tasty and appeared to be battered shoestring style. Their habanero hot sauce could be improved. The taste was only so-so.

Read moreThe food is really good here. The guy who runs it is super friendly and funny. Be on your toes or he might make you feel dumb. (He asked me if I wanted chicken or fish or beef when I ordered a tongue burrito. I knew what he was doing, but it caught someone else in line off guard.)
I'd give it a 5 star rating, but the grease dripped out of the vent and running down the trailer is a little gross. I am ok with it, but it should probably be cleaned up every now and then.
Prices are good, too. One of my favorite food carts...
