I wanted so badly to love this place. Ever since I had pho next door and saw there was a new sushi place, I couldn't wait to try it. I'll start by saying the staff is fantastic to get that out of the way. Well, the prices of some items caught me off guard, but I was hoping the quality would justify that. I loved my hamachi nigiri, but my husband ordered salmon sashimi and it was waaay too cold for him to enjoy. He said it felt almost frozen and had zero taste because of it. He also wasn't able to finish his yakiudon, which is a shame because it's one of his favorite dishes at other establishments. He left this place very hungry because he couldn't bring himself to eat anything he ordered, and didn't trust anything else to be good. Like I said, I loved my hamachi. It was great quality fish. My roll was pretty good, and I'm glad I got it during Happy Hour. I'd come back for more happy hour items, but I would have to find someone else to bring with me. My husband is not a picky eater by any means, so I was shocked at how unhappy he was.

Went to Kyu for there sashimi and went all out to test everything, the list of sashimi plus extra items are as follows: Appetizer combo, smoked salmon, Japanese scallop, yakitori steak, pork & shrimp shumai, steamed bun, charsiu bao, Japanese red snapper, ocean trout, sweet shrimp, hamachi sashimi, fresh salmon, fresh sea bass, ikura sushi, double tuna sashimi, real wasabi and finally steamed rice The real wasabi is a must when you order, it is well worth the $5 instead of the generic wasabi, this is the only place I have found so far that serves it. All of the sashimi I had ordered was brought out in a boat except the double tuna, the steak was so tender it melts in your mouth, i highly recommend kyu if you enjoy sushi or sashimi, plus the rest of the food was great, the service was great and the atmosphere was very relaxing and inviting

Our waitress truly deserves five stars—she patiently answered a million and one questions from me, all while maintaining a warm smile. The atmosphere is wonderfully relaxed, featuring dim lighting and soothing Asian instrumental music playing softly in the background. The beautiful artwork above the bar adds to the charm, and the booths are comfortable, complemented by lovely wood accents and tables. It was intimate, quiet, and low-key which is just my vibe. The food was quite enjoyable! I particularly loved the vegetable tempura, though there was a generous amount of sweet potato I would have preferred more diversity. The eel nigiri was exceptional, and my husband couldn’t get enough of the yuki roll. Both the Snow Crab Roll and California Rolls were delightful as well. And don’t forget, they have a fantastic happy hour menu!

I hate to leave negative reviews but there’s a few things I think other customers should be aware of. I placed an order tonight for pickup and was given a 15 minute estimate, I received my food around 32 mins later. They were busy and apologetic so I don’t fault them too much for that. However—the food was not acceptable. The only thing I’d even call “okay” was the tuna tower, however it didn’t have any spicy mayo or sauce on it so it was very dry. The crab puffs had not even a flavor of crab. I’m pretty sure that I got straight cream cheese and even then there were only 4 in a full order. Finally, I ordered sesame chicken which was not at all what I got. Sesame chicken is generally crispy, sauced but not soaking, and covered in sesame seeds. This was CLEARLY orange chicken (there were orange pieces that looked like marmalade throughout) with some sesame seeds sprinkled on top, so a completely different flavor profile. I much rather would’ve heard that they just didn’t have that.

The employees I interacted with were very sweet, so I will give 5 stars for service but the food was really not worth the $38 ish dollars it cost for those...

Filled with ravenous hunger, I staggered into Kyu Asian Kitchen at 9 PM. As I exhaustedly motioned for a table, the ambience and scent of the establishment instanly electrified me. Filled with the calmness of the beautiful interior, I decided to splurge on myself. Without hesitation, the kind staff took my large order of a Nitro roll, Osaka roll, Steak ramen, and milk tea boba.

The meal came in waves, yet tasted like a syncronized harmony, with the contrasting flavors seeming fighting in a Brazilian Capoeira, with delicacy and balance. Each flavor perfectly paired with the next.

My Nitro Roll was perfectly crispy, rich with flavor, and a great balance of Eastern and Western flavors. My Osaka roll was delicately sour, with a hint of tanginess, and the steak ramen was rich with umami flavor and a deep meaty taste contrasted by a sweet hint. Overall all dishes were a 9.7/10, pushed to 10 by the deliciously sweet boba.

No Asian restarauant in the Woodlands can match up to this. Strongly recommend. Consider if you’re looking for a delicious meal in a beautiful...

I need to take a moment to recognize this amazing restaurant. I’ve been coming to this place since the day it opened and let me tell you I have never been disappointed. Every single time my husband and I come we are greeted with the friendliest staff. Everyone is just so nice and is always happy to talk to you. The staff does an amazing job helping each other and making sure all customers are well taken care of. There is always at least 2 managers on duty at all times and they are always walking around checking on their servers and customers. It’s so refreshing to see this in a restaurant because a lot of places you go to you don’t EVER see the manager. Our server is normally Indy and she is just the BEST. She is always so kind and does a great job making us feel welcome. The food is always 10/10. So much flavor and good portion sizes. The sushi is so fresh and yummy!! This place is never packed solid which is so nice because there is always a table to sit at and the atmosphere is just perfect with the music and lighting. I highly recommend this...
