Fernanda's Grill & Pizzeria — Restaurant in Thomson

Food was great. It's a great find in a small town. There is a great variety in the menu, the bar is great too. My only concern is the staff. The servers are attentive. They kept our drinks full and food came out hot and in a timely manner, they know their job. But It is so uncomfortable! No one smiles. There is no welcoming feeling AT ALL. When they are at our table or any table, you would think they are at a funeral! Very direct, dry and uninviting. I was even talking with my husband pointing at the table trying to draw an invisible picture lol, the server comes with our pizza, quickly puts it down on the stand over my hands and immediately walks away. No concern about making herself shown at the table and no concern about a hot pan and my hands. She could have said MOVE! I would have felt a little better. I have to quickly ask for another drink, as they are walking away. because they dont ask if everything is good? Or if we would like anything else. Just a big rush to get you out. They rush to get back to the bar. Constantly on their phones, eating and even drinking from the bar. Only time I saw them smile was at the bar amongst conversation. They were filling the parmesian in the shaker. Constantly BANGING AND TAPPING. Rolling silverware while eating. One came from the bathroom and immediately started rolling. That's a problem. Even though they might have washed their hands in the bathroom, they should always wash back at work station. Their bathroom was dirty. Our ticket was around $80 for 2. We had a few drinks. We always tip minimum 25%. But not here. Honestly this would be a pick up and go home and eat...

Fernanda’s is our go to spot when we travel to the Augusta area. We’re about a 3 1/2 hour drive away and every single time we drive over that way, no one has to ask where we’re eating, because everyone knows. Kevin runs a great place and all of the servers that we’ve had over the past 7 years have been great; even his brother, Gio, who was moonlighting as a server on his off day as a firefighter. The food is just as delicious, too. Our favorites are the meatballs, the zeppole Parmesan, Greek salad, the Fugheddaboutit pizza, and the Hitman calzone. We’ve had too many other great tasting dishes to list, but you’ll have to try them for yourself. My favorite drink is the Paloma and on one visit they were out of grapefruit soda, so Kevin left to go to the grocery store to get some more for me. Now that’s incredible customer service! Food is great! We always see tables ordering the pizza, it's great! But! The pasta is amazing! I've tried at least 4 varieties of their pasta and never disappointed. Food is always great but service was a bit off a couple years back. My husband begged me for us to go back cause I just refused because the service was horrible. But we did go back and kept going back at least once a week since. The new manager Keith is always attentive and responsive, and always makes sure all tables are taken cared of. Now... the service. I will say yes the service has gotten better but, we always get a warm and happy welcoming and all around service from Tatum. She is pretty knowledgeable with the bar service considering she is not of age. But always has an answer and recommendation for what ever you ask. And if by some crazy chance she does not know an answer she goes over and beyond to build her knowledge and find you a good darn answer! Definitely a 10 out of...
