Kuties — Restaurant in Thornton Township

My friend sent me the Instagram reel showcasing their Kutie Shoe and I wanted to try it out. For those of you that aren't from the Chicagoland area, a Kutie Shoe is their version of the legendary Gym Shoe sandwich that consist of corned beef, gyros and Italian beef meat on a soft sub roll with lettuce, tomato and whatever other condiments you might want.

This was my first visit to Kuties. They have regular and frozen kool aid drinks. I waited about 25 minutes for my food but the wait is probably shorter if everyone is there but it was a one person crew for about 15 minutes so she did her best. I opted for the Glo(grape and lemonade mix) and it was good. A little sweet for my liking but that's because I like my kool-aid to have a bitter sweet balance but again it was good.

Now on to the Kutie Shoe. The positives: The bread was soft yet toasted on the inside just right. As you can see, it is a good looking sandwich. It was tasty and filling. The negative: Not enough balance of the three meats. The corned and Italian beef meat was scarce on the sandwich with shavings here and there. Majority of the sandwich consisted of gyros meat. Other Gym Shoes I've tried had a good balance with one not powering the others. I think if Kutie finds that balance, it'll be their best seller. I live in the city and could have gotten a Gym Shoe without the travel but I purposely traveled to Calumet City to try their version. I felt a little cheated but feel if I'm ever out that way, I'd stop by, I'll just make sure to ask them to balance it out. The service was poor and the wait was entirely too long for 2 sandwiches just for them to only give us one sandwich and have to wait for them to make the other one. We waited over an hour and it was a lobby area full of people complaining about how long they’d been waiting. They weren’t selling fries or chicken wings, the cashier had to have been new because every time someone asked what came on particular sandwiches she had to yell back and ask and the people in the back act like they ain’t kno either 😒 I had high hopes for this place since I saw a video advertised on Facebook, I was very much not impressed 😒 then they got a sign that says no refunds but don’t nobody wanna wait a hr and a half for they food u can give me a refund and I could go somewhere else. I came here today October 31. The woman at the register had an extremely bad attitude within 1 minute of me ordering. The cashier Faithee stated that they was not making any more boudin balls with no explanation why. She went on with her nasty attitude. Then I asked for Alfredo she stated that she don’t think they are serving any pasta either overall the experience here was horrible I drove 30 minutes away because I seen a video on tik tok. I tried to call the store because arrived but the phone was cut off. It was about 50 people sitting in the small restaurant.
