Mancino's Pizza & Grinders — Restaurant in Thornton Township

Food is so good! However my customer service today was zero stars! I walked in at 8:10pm and the time posted to close is 9pm. First thing the cashier does is looks at her watch and says to me I hope your not ordering pizza. I asked if their oven was down. She said no, we close at 8:30. As I looked at the menu the cashier continued looking at her watch because we couldn't make our minds up of which sandwich we should buy. As we wait for our grinders she continues to look at her watch. Turns the Open sign off at 8:25. We get our sandwiches at 8:29 and as we get the baby situated to walk out another customer walks in at exactly 8:30pm and she looks at her watch again with this sorry face. Tells the customer that they stop making pizzas at 8:30, but you just told me that you already stop making pizzas at 8:10pm. I had no choice to approach her and tell her that it was very annoying that she keeps looking at her watch. She told me to stop being rude so I told her that she was being rude for looking at her watch as she was rushing me to leave. The guy never order and walked out with us. He asked if the food was very good and I told him yes despite the service I received today. I first had Mancinos when they opened their location in South Holland and never received such service. I love every Mancino's Grinder I've ever tried, but the Steak Delicious Grinder is one of the best 5 sandwiches I've ever had in my entire life, and the fresh baked bread is like no other. It ranks with Ricobene's Breaded Steak Sandwich, Schlotzsky's Original (gone from Illinois for many years now), and the Italian Beef Sandwich from Mr. Beef in Homer Glen -- all classic greats. These legendary oven-baked sandwiches are beyond compare, and I've never had one that fell short of being absolutely fantastic. The pizza features the same great mozzarella cheese as the Grinders, along with awesome crust, sauce, and fresh toppings. This family-run establishment has delighted me more times than I can count, and I now gladly drive more than 30 minutes to continue enjoying this favorite of the past 25 years. I write this during the COVID-19 lockdown, and have just discovered Mr. Beef in Homer Glen is now permanently closed. Came here for the first time. When I walked in, a guy had shown up saying he placed 5 whole sandwiches but they didnt talk to him so we gave them some time before ordering bc we know that can be alot. I got the half chicken bacon ranchero and let me tell youuuu... the best sandwich Ive had in quite some time! It didnt take them long and the half portion is huge. My bf got the stromboli and that was delicious as well! They brought the food to our table and the girls were soo nice!! Even let me use the coupon online.
