Tropical Jerk — Restaurant in Thornton Township

I wish I could give this place no stars honestly. Yesterday I decided to try them out for the first time because coworkers mentioned them. Wish I went somewhere else to eat instead. I ordered the jerk chicken lunch special with a Pepsi. I thought the chicken was ok, but it had a weird after taste. The drop of mac and cheese they gave me was bland as ever, but the yams were ok. Any who I began to have stomach cramps while at work and until I got home yesterday. By 2am I began throwing up and having chronic diarrhea from the food I ate here. Fast forward to today and I'm still throwing up green and yellow bile while having continuous diarrhea at the same damn time. If I could I would sue this place for giving me food poisoning, not to mention I missed work today and I'm on 90 day probation to where I can't miss no days. This is by far thee worst experience I have ever had eating out somewhere. Also too Tropic Island please leave the red beans and rice to the Creole and southern folks that know how to cook it. Your version of red beans and rice is horrible. And to all of you lovely people from Illinois that continue to eat here may God be with you. GO TO MUNSTER LOCATION. Chicken was old & hard, rice uncooked with barely NO peas in it and I am more than certain I was given less chicken than 1/2 chicken…more like 1/4 and a lots of bones. Whats worse is that The young man working the counter tonight with the cap on, had the audacity to be inarticulate and rude. Could not understand a word he said, as he mumbled not even attempting to speak up but constantly askong “Huh?” to customers…which made it hard to communicate with him because when trying to talk to him, he had the audacity to turn around and say I don’t know what you’re talking about. We can’t be serving Black people in our community And have the audacity to issue such bad customer service and then be mad when we don’t want to patronize your businesses any longer. I’m almost certain he overcharged me for a 1/4 dark meal. On top of that I ordered the medium macaroni and cheese and he tried to give me a small and got an attitude when I pointed that out to him. I will never come to this one again. I will go to Munster instead. Matter fact, if they’re own by the same entity, I’ll just get my jerk dinners in a whole different community such as Hyde Park or Edgewater on...

Yep never again drove over an hour to go to this place and man i disappointed 🤦🏾‍♀️ ordered oxtail dinner per their website came with six oxtails but got four and they were tiny tails and half done mind u it’s 1pm if they haven’t cooked long enough tell ur customer they’re not available!!! I asked the young lady at the register did they put extra gravy on my peas and rice she said yea I saw it (which after seeing the plate reall pissed me off bc they didn’t and why would u send food out your restaurant that looks like that 🤦🏾‍♀️) I paired my meal with cabbage an the cabbage was amazing the Mac not so much noddles were over cooked and I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure they used cheese wiz if u know the taste u know that taste 🤢 also ordered pinnacle chicken with cabbage and yams the chicken tasted like they used day old chicken flavor profile was there but definitely dried out and over cooked had but the sides were great at least they got that right🙄 I’m.
