This is my favorite and regular haunt of all the Ficelle locations.
The number one reason is the customer service.
While all Ficelle locations have wonderful staff, this location is the best in my humble opinion specifically because of the people that work here (a few to mention from my interactions are Jez, Sion, Kylie, Baylie, Joey, Christina, Leah, Vida, and Dana).
The staff here truly make the difference and amplify the experience with the warmth, care, kindness, and attentiveness to detail that they give from start to finish while dining or enjoying a delicious drink.
I live closest to the newest Ventura location and drive all the way to Thousand Oaks because I can study with amazing lighting, ample space, good coffee with delicious food, and even better, amazing people!
The service is unparalleled for so many reasons. There is just something about this particular location that MAKES YOU WANT TO COME BACK...From the warmth and genuine greeting received upon walking in, to the care and details surrounding the order you place (from the heating of a ham and gruyere croissant to the latte being prepared just the way you like it, or a delicious item freshly prepared in the kitchen). They ask questions and they genuinely care about your experience.
There are days where the cafe is busy and slammed with patrons and seating can be difficult with families and groups waiting for a table to dine in... as a fellow observer (I come here several times a week to study and sit at the bar), I believe that the staff do everything possible to ensure a smooth running restaurant despite it being only partial service.
The biggest issue I have seen is where people continue long catch up dates (taking up valuable table space) while families of four to six wait for a table to eat a hot meal being prepared in the kitchen.
Once again, staff does their absolute best to accommodate guests despite the rush. I have seen complaints made at the drink bar (I come here OFTEN and sit at the bar to do a lot of reading) and I have NEVER witnessed such professionalism and tact from staff handling complaints from patrons...
It should be noted that the staff that work here are primarily a younger group and they display more humility and prompt response to guest issues than most people do twice their age in professional settings. I am very impressed.
Good food and great coffee is nothing without exceptional service. This location is amazing with the ambience and umatched service provided. I gladly make the drive because I know what to expect every time I come to this location, and it is an experience I have yet to...
Read moreBeen here 3 times, and every time I think, maybe next time. Maybe next time it will be better, perhaps it's just my hope though. I live within a 5 min walk from here, and would love to make it my go-to spot.
Food: Extremely disappointing. Avocado toast is severely lacking, brown, and not even enough to cover the toast. Food simply seems to lack substance and quality control. Kinda bare minimum gets the job done vibes. From one restaurant manager to another, gotta give people value if you want them to keep coming back.
Service: Staff and managers don't initiate contact with guests (as a server would) to check on customer satisfaction and afford the customer a chance to air grievance without it coming off as a complaint. Ordered a chocolate croissant heated, and it came out stone cold. Nobody asked if I wanted to try a pastry (easy upsell) or have a sample of one ready to offer to entice.
Atmosphere: No cafe music, at least not loud enough to notice or hear. Seems more like a cafeteria,...
Read moreCafé Ficelle is hands down one of my favorite spots in Thousand Oaks. From the moment you walk in, it feels like you’ve stepped into a cozy Parisian café — warm lighting, rustic décor, and the aroma of fresh-baked bread filling the air.
The pastries are outstanding — flaky, buttery, and clearly made with love. I always go for the almond croissant or the kouign-amann when I want something sweet, but honestly, you can’t go wrong with anything in the case. Their coffee is smooth and well-balanced, and the baristas are friendly and know their craft.
Brunch here is also a must. The Ficelle Benedict and avocado toast are next-level, and everything is plated beautifully. Even when it’s busy (which it often is on weekends), the staff handles it with ease and keeps the vibe relaxed.
Whether I’m meeting a friend, grabbing a quiet coffee to work, or treating myself on a Sunday morning, Café Ficelle always delivers. A true local treasure —...
