So this was supposed to be written a month ago. I am only getting to it today because I need to get pizza for my sons school pizza party tomorrow. I called in to get a large pizza they said 20 mins. On they phone they call you by your name because I guess it comes up for them. The woman owner called me by the wrong name, and repeated my order to me, it was not what I ordered, I corrected her. When I arrived, I told her my order again, and I was asked to wait in my car. During the 45 total wait time I walked back in 2 times perhaps to ask where it was. Apparently my pizza was placed on the top of the oven, which they lost track of. Long story short, my sons friends at the house started to leave because they were getting HANGRY, after 45 ins they found my cold pizza and gave it to me, I didn't have time to deal with it, I had to boogie out of there and get home. I was very upset. When I got home I called back to voice my frustration. The woman owner picked up the phone, I asked her to make the bad situation right. She simply said, "sorry there's nothing I can do", I was a weekly customer, I told her I will not be coming back, she said something to the effect "sorry you feel that way". To bad, I liked the pizza, my son did too. Will be taking my business elsewhere tomorrow. They only care...
Read moreI came to Winners by pure chance, as I had just come from a concert, nearby, at BofA Performance arts center, and nothing was opened passed 9 pm. I got there at 9:30 as they were closing at 10 pm Sam, the owner greeted me, a very warm man, and he was genuinely nice to all the clients that were in there after the concert. He offered me a free soft drink, and garlic rolls for the 4 or 5 of us who were in there. He suggested a mini pizza, with Pepperoni, Cheese, Sausage, Mushrooms and onion, and I told him I didn't want greasy at this late hour. Not only was it delicious, but it digested very easily, and left me feeling just right and not stuffed or bloated.
I promised Sam, I would come back and have the Veal Parmigiana. The place is clean, easy parking, the price is really fair and I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a great little hidden gem of a place, with great ownership. I always like to support local business owners over restaurant chains with no character or individuality. 5 Stars to Winners Pizza and their great Kitchen staff and charismatic vibrant owner Sam.

Read moreI love pizza, especially the pizza here (I'm not a restaurant-sandwich guy per se), and if you want to know what makes a Winner, this is the place that knows best: the pizza's "a winner for dinner" (or lunch which is the busiest time... your best bet for fastest service is to order online or call for delivery), and don't be afraid to ask for a little extra something-something, because the owner is very service-oriented and will bend over backwards to please customers (but knowing what a nice guy he is, I also encourage you to not abuse him due to knowing this!).
I go here often with two or more friends and split a large pizza or two among us; we also often get chicken wings, and they cook the pizza crust just right (not too thin or thick, not undercooked [my pizza phobia] and not burnt). Great sauce [never acidic] and toppings, too. Prices are decent... not the cheapest, but we're worth it!
I challenge anyone to review a better pizza joint. I've traveled from San Diego to Santa Barbara trying several other highly-touted places and Winners destroys them all, hands down. Why? 'cause they're...
