Last call is 30 minutes before closing. I went in for baked green mussels and a sashimi salad. They told me they couldn't plate it but would serve me my food in a styrofoam box. I made sure I could eat the mussels when I was served because the only way to eat them is IMMEDIATELY.
The mussels were good. Meatier than usual. (I order green mussels from every sushi place I try. ). Meatier = good. Not oversauced. Again, good.
Sashimi salad was also good. Plenty of seafood on it. The part that really stood out was the octopus(?) that was on the salad. First of all, it's the first time I've had it on any sashimi salad. Second, it was very flavorful. Very fresh. I said, "yum" aloud (unintentionally) with every bite I had. It was very good.
The rest of the salad/sashimi was great. Very small pieces so you get a good mix of different fish and and salad with each bite. It really is a salad. Other sashimi salads I try differ, in the sense that you have to decide whether your next bite is either salad greens or it's one fish at a time but this was very mixed. If you're hungry, it doesn't matter what gets swallowed, or in what order.
Ultimately, even though the food I ordered was at the end of the day, it was still very fresh and tasty. The staff accommodated me and what I wanted. The price was about $40. $25 for the salad and $10 for the mussels. Plus a super small tip. [[(but only because I wasnt being waited on and didn't require much service, (which is totally fine). Just throw that in a box and I'll be on my way.... no beverages, no dishes. Just an end-of-the-night sale. $5 was adequate for this particular situation otherwise I would have...
Read moreA server's attitude, demeanor, desire to please and willingness to accept responsibility for their mistakes can make or break the customer's experience and leave a bad taste. Tonight we had a server that ruined us going to Sushi Planet again. After coming back from traveling all day across the country, working, then getting to son's football 7 on7, I decides to take him and his gf to sushi (eating there) then ordered to go for husband and daughter. No cooking tonight! This waitress (Elyssa on receipt) messed up on to go order which I didn't realize until home (missing food) and no apology just you didn't get charged for the lemonade and ended with we can refuse service to you and hung up. The lemonade the kids ordered was not good- it was yellow kind.) In the past they've had pink (i guess it's their strawberry). Waitress didn't ask, "would you like the strawberry or yellow regular lemonade ". That simple question when taking order would have avoided the drink situatio. The kids had a couple sips (yuck they said) and wouldn't drink anymore. when i brought that to her attention, she didn't mention the strawberry option and wouldn't remove it from the ticket. The owner, who seems pretty cool and seems to understands good service, saw me speaking to her and came to the table, figured out the problem and kindly offered to take of off the bill. All good. But the attitude from this waitress when I called back just slammed the door on ever returning or referring or joining friends at Sushi Planet...
Read moreStopped by for a quick lunch while passing through this town. The staff was very friendly and immediately sat us outside per our request. The service was quick and perfect. For our lunch, we ordered the Garlic Salmon Roll and the Galaxy Roll along with some Garlic Eddamme for the table. The food was fantastic. The rolls were large, larger than many places we've visited. The quality of the fish and the craftsmanship of the rolls were top-notch. The rolls being larger were still tightly wrapped and more than capable of staying firmly together when being picky with chopsticks. While the sushi was great, the Garlic Eddamme was perfection. So many places recently just dust some garlic powder on some steamed Eddamme and call it a dish. This is far from the case here. The Eddamme is cooked to perfection, offering that soft yet firm texture, popping easily out of its casing. They were seasoned with a hint of spice and heat, likely red pepper, along with real garlic. My guess would be a fried garlic, and the whole batch is coated in a buttery soy like sauce that was just phenomenal. I'm not going to lie. After we finished off the Eddamme, we used the remaining pool of sauce in the bowl to dip our leftover sushi rolls..... If we ever come back this way, we'll be back...
