We rented the party room and paid for the amount of guests we had RSVPs for. I requested ahead of time to get the leftover food since the contract said you had to request it ahead of time. I just didn't want a lot of food to be thrown away if people didn't come.
We were scheduled to eat at 7:30pm. The food wasn't brought out until 8pm.
Sure enough, we had a lot of no-shows. The problem was there wasn't enough food for those who were there. No food was refilled at all, the whole time.
It just didn't seem right. Several people didn't eat anything at all because they were allergic to shellfish and the staff told us they fried the chicken fingers in the same grease they fry seafood in. And we weren't just 10 people down, there were 30 no shows! Plus about 5 who didn't eat anything.
So I called the next day and over a month later I had to just show up at the restaurant since I wasn't getting anywhere on the phone.
Now I get a message claiming the kitchen prepared all this food, but I am here to tell you there is absolutely no way we had that much food.
I don't think you should have to pay for double the people just to have enough food for everyone at your party.
This is honest truth about what happened. I hate to get on here and badmouth a local place, but I did give them a chance to rectify. Word to the wise...take photos of the buffet so you have proof.
The staff was friendly and the food was good, what little we got. But I can't give them anymore of my business if this is how they run things. Someone in that kitchen either took home food or just didn't cook it. I just know we didn't get the amount of food they claim we did.
I guess we should have disputed this at the end of the party when they gave us the bill, but a lot was happening. Afterwards, when people talked about the small amount of food they got and others around them, that's when we started realizing just little food there actually was. But I guess in the end, they stand behind whatever the kitchen staff says....
Read moreNot a good experience! We had long standing reservations at Chart House, but Chart House was struck by lightning and we had to scramble to find a replacement for our party of 12. We called ahead and were told that they do not take reservations, but regularly seat parties up to 20 guests. We arrived at 12:30pm on a Saturday. We were not seated until 2:04pm, and when we were, they seated us as two separate tables. Mind you, there were plenty of empty tables that could have been combined. We sat at our two separate tables for 8 minutes before being approached by a server. As the server walked up, I asked if we could push some tables together, and she immediately helped us. This was the highlight of our visit... but could have been done 90 minutes earlier. After moving to our new table, we got a new server and ordered drinks and apps. Apps came out at 3:07pm... almost 45 minutes after ordering... and one app was missing. It came out 7 minutes later. Our main courses started arriving at 3:35pm, over 3 hours into our dining experience. The food was mediocre. In all, we spent 3.5 hours and $335 here for a party of 12 (four of them children). There are only two, single stall restrooms for a restaurant that seats over 100 patrons, and one was out of toilet paper and paper towels. I feel sorry for the servers here. Our server was agressive with my 8 year old daughter, and short with the rest of us. When the server asked if everyone got all their food, my daughter picked up her empty glass and said she needed more lemonade. The server said, "Put that down. I'm not doing that right now." They added a 18% service charge to the check, which could easily be missed if you don't look for it on the check. Not one single person apologized for the long wait, or less than ideal experience, including our server. Will not be patronizing this establishment...
Read moreWe arrived in Thunderbolt at around 6pm on a Saturday evening and went to Tubby's for something to eat. There was a long wait but the food and service was worth it. We enjoyed it so much we went back our last night in Georgia and ate again plus stopped by one night and got dessert to go. All 3 visits, the hostess was very impersonable and acted as if we were bothering them. But that was the only negative we found with the staff. The waitress were very friendly and quick with their service. The first visit, the waitress did explain they had a 70 person party in the banquet room and the kitchen was a little backed up. But we got our drinks and appetizers quick and knowing that she explained it, we understood. They were very busy that evening. The waitress was running a lot but never left us with an empty drink and took time to speak to us answering questions about dishes that helped me with making a selection. I had the fish tacos the first trip and they were good. The biggest hit at our table was the potato spuds. GET THEM! Don't get the fries, get the spuds! And the honey horseradish dip that comes with them is AMAZING! I have to try to figure out how to make that. Our waitress the first time was Alisa and I was very impressed with her. We also got the key lime pie for a to go dessert and it was very good. Our last visit was mid afternoon on Thursday so they were not as busy. But the food was just as good and the service was also excellent. One big thing that I should have listened to my husband when he read previous reviews, take a light weight sweater or long sleeve shirt. The ceiling fans inside are going full blast and it is cold inside. I saw several people go to their car and get sweaters. Our last visit, we asked to sit on the front porch and it...
