Mezcal Cantina Baltimore — Restaurant in Timonium

Extremely poor service. Management is unhelpful. Hostess are rude and disrespectful. I arrived an hour before my party (after calling two weeks in advance about what their reservation process was) asked again about what I needed to do to get a table for 7. They told me to stay in the restaurant, they would seat just me at a table for 7 within 20 minutes. I asked if there needed to be a certain number of the party there or if it would be better for me to leave and come back. They insisted I should just wait. After waiting for an hour and watching three parties of 8 or more people plus a few parties of two get seated, I asked why I hadn’t been seated yet. They told me they aren’t allowed to seat me until half my party arrive. After which I asked them why had told me that earlier and they said that they didn’t know so I had to sit back down and continue to wait. During the time I wait for a Nother hour because after half my party arrived there was no tables available they spent the whole time looking at me and snickering and rolling their eyes. Then when we were finally were seated, we were shoved into a corner of the room they practically sitting on top of each other to the point where none of us could sit comfortably. it was a booth for two people where they just shoved the bunch other chairs around no one had any room to move. The end of the night we talk to the manager and he said well that’s her policy and basically did nothing. Arrived around 6:30PM on Saturday, party of two. So, you know what they say, if its busy it is most likely good. Standing room only while waiting for the table. Around 1 hour wait. I confirmed with the Hostess that they don't take reservations or call ahead, so plan for a wait if a busy time.

Once seated, the waitress Leslie was great. Very fast and friendly, available as needed. Leslie helped me knowledgeably through a menu selection letting me know the substitution for shrimp I was asking was actually a menu item. Thanks for that.

You are served complimentary chips and salsa once seated. We ordered waters, a Margarita, beer, trio dip (pico, guac, and cheese dips), and two entrees. The food was well prepared and delicious. Typical Mexican menu items to choose from. Total was just over $60 and good value.

It was roughly one hour once seated for the full meal. We never felt rushed. As we left around 8:30PM, there were still people waiting to be seated, not as many as when we arrived.

I would definitely choose Mexcal in Lutherville-Timonium over La Tolteca in Cockeysville (food quality) and Echo Frezco in Hunt Valley ( too pricey for what you get).

Went between the busy lunch and dinner rush. My daughter wanted tacos with no meat. Easy enough right?

Food came out with meat. Looking around for our server, she was behind the bar with the bartender, doing hair. We make eye contact and she comes over to take the food back.

A few minutes later someone else drops off the remake without stopping. It has meat again. This time our server was nowhere to be found. We waited 10 minutes for someone to walk by so I could flag them down.

I asked them to send my server and was told she went on a break. 🤦

Eventually, the manager brought the correct food. Nobody ever offered a drink refill. We did get an apology and a smile from the manager but the service was terrible.

I used to bartend and wait tables. I typically leave 25-30% tips as long as they are friendly and put in some effort. I've never left less than 15%, and that was for a server who was actually kind of rude. Today I left no tip because they literally just gave no eff's about us or...
