Sooo disappointed. We have been frequenting a couple Gatto’s locations for over 10 years and the food and service have been great....until tonight. I have actually NEVER had such a bad experience. The food was excellent, as usual. We sat out in the patio area and our server (I came late and didn’t get her name) was also great. The reason for the rating is the next table and “management” response. There were 2 elder ladies, but 1 was on her phone most of the time, at least 20 minutes. (Appetizer and main course just served)The problem was she spoke very loudly, had it on SPEAKER FACE TIME for all to endure and was embroiled in some very personal family drama that had her increasing louder and yelling at the other person. After what felt like forever, she finally ended the call. To be fair...I muttered “finally”. That’s when she attacked both my husband and I, trying to engage us in an argument. She was clearly still worked up from her public phone argument. She stormed inside and that’s when just obnoxious turned worse. Out come 3 men, 1 of which looked like a bouncer and announced to the remaining woman that she would be moving inside because someone out here was mean!! Then the skinny guy confronts my husband and says, “was it you? I saw you snickering”. It wasn’t actually a question, as he didn’t wait for a reply. He was quite agitated and kept repeating “what’s the problem, what did she do” and never stopped long enough to hear an answer. And that’s when the truth comes out...the other woman announces that the “manager” is the rude woman’s grandson! His response was so inappropriate for a “manager”. He could have moved them without trying to start a confrontation of his own. We were paying patrons, not guests in their family room, nor are we interested in the drama of “Gianna and Bella”. The other patio patrons looked quite shocked. We just got up and left without even eating the food that has just been...
Read moreWhen we come across a restaurant that has surpassed the 20 years in the business benchmark, there is usually a well-known reason behind it. Gatto’s Restaurant and Bar falls into this prominent group. Owner Chuck Gatto has taken great pride in creating an atmosphere of great food and amazing service that we all crave when we want to step away from our daily stresses to enjoy a great meal. Chuck keeps old-school charm alive with classic decor and chalkboard menus along the walls of Gatto’s, offering a variety of traditionally prepared Italian classics made with the freshest ingredients.
With no shortage of homemade dishes to choose from at Gatto’s, it’s always a difficult task to branch out and try new things after you’ve fallen in love with a handful of your favorites. This past visit to Gatto’s I tried the Chicken Pinoli which is a Gatto’s original. Plated as a beautiful work of art, the Chicken Pinoli is a dish of lightly breaded chicken breasts sautéed in a lemon wine sauce with pine nuts over a bed of angel hair pasta. The balance of flavors in my first bite led to an instant love for this dish. It’s a lighter dish that doesn’t weigh you down yet after your first bite it feels impossible to allow yourself to leave with any leftovers. This is a perfect example of the type of dish you develop that relationship with and refuse to try anything else.
If there could be only one hearty Italian classic that comes to mind, it would have to be Braciole. While not on the menu of every Italian restaurant due to the extensive time and effort to prepare, Gatto’s doesn’t let us down with this culinary gem. Their Braciole is served over a layer of mostaccioli with meat sauce, otherwise known as their “Sunday Gravy”. I don’t think you can get much closer to genuine comfort food than an order of homemade Braciole at Gatto’s. The tender beef rolled into such a savory blend of seasonings was complete perfection...
Read moreRecently had a family luncheon and had the worst and sometimes the best experience. We had two servers which the best experience ONLY came from the one server who was very personable and polite (wish I got her name). The rest of our experience was terrible because of the other server (every single one of our tables 6 in total had a problem with her). Mind you, my family just got out of a funeral service burying a very close family member, and this server (kind of 50/50 that her name is Carly) was extremely rude. 0 interest in being there. 0 interest in wanting to help anyone. And when anyone asked any sort of modifications to their order, it was like we were a nuisance. When asked if the restaurant had any sour cream she said “no we don’t have any, but if you would like some then you can go to the Mexican restaurant next door”. Then when the bill came.. even though I wasn’t involved in the discrepancy I didn’t appreciate her talking behind our backs to a coworker, hopefully not her manager (brunette in a ponytail looked like she was counting money), stating “don’t worry I’m going to bring the southern charm” and all of a sudden starts using ya’ll with us as if she was attempting to what treat us? Yeah it didn’t work in her favor. Extremely irritating and unprofessional from start to finish.
Never been to this restaurant and quite honestly after something like this and so much more in depth happening there, can promise I won’t be going there anytime in the near future or ever at this rate.
I was under the impression this is a family restaurant, you would think that the server there would have better manners and representation of the company. ...
