My daughter has allergies so I have to be really careful when we go out places. I try to be as fair as I can to her so she doesn’t feel left out.
Usually when we go to DQ, she gets the same thing every time (vanilla with sprinkles). I always have to ask the employees to wash their hands.
But today, when we walked up, she seen a picture of a Dily Bar and wanted it. When we got to the counter, I asked the younger lady if we could see the ingredients for the Dily Bar. Her response “it’s just chocolate and vanilla ice cream. No allergens in it.” Me “do you mind if I just we the box to double check?” She rolled her eyes…..
A nice young man walked over and asked what I needed. After telling him, he quickly went to the freezer, no problem. Brings the box over and actually helps me check the info on the box…just to make sure. I told him we would take the pre-packaged Dily Bar (by the way, it had soy and milk in it).
The young women started to ring me up, forgetting to ring up the Dily Bar (she was standing right there). I informed her that she forgot to ring it up. She said “which one?” I told her I did not know there were two? An older women (pretty sure it was the manager) walks over and asks which Dily Bar we got “because there are two.” I told her to ask the young boy who was helping us, to ensure we got that exact one we looked at the ingredients on. The manager…….rolled her eyes at me.
After ringing me out, I told all three of them to have a good day. The younger women slammed the window. The older women walked away. The boy told us to have a good day.
I usually don’t complain. But I take my daughter’s allergies very seriously. The misinformation I was given could have resulted in my daughter having an allergy attack. The attitude I received was ridiculous, especially from a manager.
We sat there eating our ice cream for 20 minutes and they had no customers. I am not sure what their rush was.
If you have children with allergies, or you yourself have allergies, please just double check the info...

Read moreI used to manage a dine in restaurant, so I understand how frustrating it can be when the last-minute customers show up. They only add minimal overall sales while lowering your sales/hour and hurt your labor since you have to keep your staff there and paid which cost more than the profit gained usually..... so I am very happy that when my 80yo grandmother wanted 4 quarts of Dairy Queen ice cream because all the others upset her stomach at the last half hour that not only did she get it but the staff was friendly and you would never have known they were just ready to go home after a long shift. Thank you, this kind of service deserves...
