This was our first and last time dining here. Atmosphere is good the wait staff is nice. When we got there we didn't see a buffet anywhere so was kinda confused but we did see the sushi people at the bar making sushi behind a small area of prep food under a glass canopy. We wanted to sit there as the center section seating was pretty packed but the waiting said no and seated us over in the packed area. They don't explain anything they just ask lunch or dinner which also was weird because it was 1pm so we said lunch.
So you need to know what's not posted anywhere until you sit down and it's on the napkin holder which we never read till mid meal mind you it's not even on the menu. So basically it's about 19$ for lunch don't know about dinner. You order anything on the lunch menu they give you but if you don't finish they charge you for what ever is left on the plates rather you want to take it or not. Even if you don't like something. We didn't know any of this till after we ordered mind you waiter didn't tell us this at all but he gave us a discounted price on the left over sushi since it was our first time there after I asked him about the napkin holder policy. Honestly we would have just went to a different restaurant if we had of known all that previously.
Now the food this is not the quality or type you get any where else locally or out of town I have ever had. Don't know if that's good or bad. Most of the food is childish and over cooked but at the same time some things are well cooked and not heavy as other places. I'm telling you it was weird! The fried sushi was ok it was a little over cooked but still good enough to eat but I wouldn't order again. All the dish type meals that you would get like general gso or things like that were over cooked none of the sauces that normally go on those meals were even close in taste. Definitely different no sauce there was like any spot I've been to previously. Now in contrast things that usually aren't that great at other places were ok here like the crab ragoons were better tasting but no crab or imitation for that matter was inside it just like cream cheese and little bits of something barely but it wasn't over done or old and it tasted decent. The tempura shrimp was very fresh and perfectly fried and not over coated but you only get one per person at a time.
It was different and that might not be bad for you but definitely not for us and we won't go back. We only really enjoyed those two things and the sushi was better than a grocery stores that's the standard there though. If you want to stuff yourself with sushi then yea this place is ok but if you don't eat it all it's a dollar each one left and I'm not talking roll...
Read moreI stopped by this restaurant during my road trip and I’m glad I did. For the price it was great! I ordered 2 miso soup, 1 salmon nigiri, 1 shrimp nigiri, the golden lobster roll, New York roll, rainbow roll, and 2 eel avocado hand rolls which is a great deal for $18. The miso soup did taste a little watered down and my first bowl only had 1 small piece of tofu and the second bowl wasn’t any different. Still I would say it was okay, not the best nor the worst I’ve had. The biggest thing I noticed with all the sushi is that this restaurants rice seems to be bit more on the sweet side which was pretty overpowering at times such as on the nigiri’s, my salmon nigiri had too little fish for the amount of rice so all I really tasted was the rice. The Golden lobster roll looked incredibly messy and was supposed to have eel sauce instead it had a thin sauce idk how it could be eel sauce it didn’t particularly taste like eel sauce either. Tempura was kinda soggy like it had been sitting out for quite a while. This was probably one of the most disappointing rolls but the one I really wouldn’t recommend is the New York roll, it straight up just tasted like cucumber, I couldn’t even taste the tuna! The Eel avocado hand roll was good but could have used more eel overall I wasn’t mad at it, I even ordered a second. The Eel wasn’t dry which had been an issue if run into in my last view restaurants I reviewed. The best roll was the Rainbow roll, it had a bit more rice than I’d like but for $18 ayce place I was suprised by the amount of fish used and the nice cucumber ratio, if I had more room in my stomach I totally would have ordered a second!
Onto the restaurant itself, I’ve never seen a restaurant quite like it, it was a mix of a sports bar and a sushi restaurant which was interesting, I thought the overall vibe was interesting it was fun. One thing I want to highlight is the pictures in the menu, I love when restaurants put photos of the item on the menu and I wish more restaurants would do this. The staff was nice, the waitress even filled my water bottle for me which I appreciated. My only complaint was that my waitress never came to refill my glass and didn’t really check in on me at all and I waited for a while for her to come over and give me a check. But the food was relatively quick which was nice since this was a pit stop in a 10 hour road trip.
Overall I would come back, for that price I can forgive a few issues and nothing was inedible or made me sick which is always a win, the place also seemed pretty clean. For the price range I...
Read moreI didn’t know what to expect because I had never even heard of all-you-can-eat sushi, but I’ll be the first to tell you… this place is AMAZING!!
This is not some buffet, recycled food operation. This is a first-class Sushi restaurant with freshness that rivals the best of Toledo’s favorite sushi spots. For less than $25 per person, they have a full menu that includes all the classic appetizers, regular rolls, delicious House specialty rolls, Hibachi, Nigiri, and so much more.
We shared a Kani salad that was fresh and delightful, followed by traditional miso soup and salad. The Green Tea was fresh and helped prepare us for our specialty rolls.
We had a Spicy Tuna roll that was flaky and crispy, a tempura fried roll that just melts in your mouth and a sweetheart roll that might have had the freshest tuna I’ve had in a long long time. Not to mention the delicate Unagi Nigiri that was so good my wife actually tried it and now she can’t wait to go back for more!!
Our server came back ready to take out order for our next round of rolls and we both burst out laughing because we were so full and so satisfied we couldn’t take another bite.
If you’re wondering about the all you can eat part, they simply ask that you not order excessive amounts of food that you are not prepared to eat, out of simple human decency. If you are a jerk and do so, they simply charge you a little extra to make up for your lack of common courtesy.
In our polarized world today, a fantastic sushi restaurant that runs on an honor system is a bold business of plan but I firmly believe that tonight’s Grand Opening will be the beginning of a new and exciting tradition for sushi lovers in Toledo.
They are open 7 days a week and they don’t close between 2 and 5, you simply HAVE TO try this place and taste the freshness and experience the warm sense of welcome and hospitality that the staff offer whilst bringing you all the sushi your heart desires!!
I wish I could give this place 10 stars!! I’m literally going back for lunch tomorrow!!
P.S The city of Toledo needs to hurry up and get this place their liquor license. They are brining jobs and revenue and an awesome sushi place to the UT/Dorr&Reynolds area, hurry up and let us enjoy Sake with our...
