I have been waiting for 'THE' pho spot in Toledo for years now! And this is the joint!
This lovely cozy nook, has the warmth of a family run, but the modern jazzy for the younger crowd. Phoxy Pho is right down the road from the University of Toledo!
So the pho! The broth is a fantastic treat! Sweet, meaty with plenty of umami, and plenty of fresh zing from the cilantro. The 'fixin' plate was heaped high with crunchy sprouts, very fresh jalapenos, correctly cut limes, and fantasticly green basil. The meat was soft and tender, with the right amount of rare and cooked.
The rice noodles were cooked perfectly, and if it was meant to be cold, it is cold and if it meant to be hot it was piping hot! The portions come in regular (Which I ordered and photographed) and large.
The service was friendly and knowledgeable, with excellent suggestions and just the right amount of upsell. Plenty of face time but not enough to annoy you. Kept the table clean and water filled, and asked the correct questions.
I had a little chat with the owner and chef, and I am super happy that he opened Phoxy Pho. I don't know if this is a secret or not, but he tells me he simmers the broth over night, which makes me extremely happy! Scratch broth and broth that was taken care of with an expert hand.
With the utmost gusto, I want everyone to go here, and will drag everyone I know here.

Read moreThe food, the ambiance, the workers, the service - everything was top notch! This place is a must go-to if you’re looking for authentic Vietnamese. My husband has been to Vietnam and has lived in China and he has declared this the BEST pho in town! The portions are generous and I can say that the gyoza (pot stickers) were the best I’ve ever had in my life. The food was so fresh and came out quickly - which is a huge bonus because we have an impatient toddler to entertain in the interim! I also got the coffee and it puts Starbucks to shame. Give it a try - I am a coffee brat and I was floored. Definitely will be back. The images are of the children’s size pho bowls and one regular size to give perspective. I ate the pot stickers too fast - no time for pictures. (You’ll understand when you try them) I guess they are also now serving egg rolls (?) I overheard our waitress . Will absolutely be returning. Emilly was our waitress and she was so friendly, prompt, recognized we had a toddler, and made sure our order was quickly in and the food quick to hit the table! The owner was also there and he was very friendly...
Read moreI was so excited to try this place but I hate to say it I’m not a fan. For starters, we were told that there will be a mandatory 18% tip fee no matter what for dine in. I don’t like the idea of forced tips. Next, we ordered the dumplings & the garlic pork skewers. The skewers were ok, not a lot of flavor. The dumplings were good too except they were fried and then served in a watery sauce. Finally the pho. We both ordered the phoxy special with the beef and brisket. We were not a fan of this at all. The menu says the beef is rare but it is straight up blue raw - cold. And it didn’t even look like beef, it looked like raw chicken or pork. I was disgusted and kept picking it out. The broth was bland..& the noodles were over cooked and soggy. On top of that It took foreverrrr. It was only us and 2 other tables there too so they weren’t busy. Like how long does it take to throw raw meat and broth in a bowl? I also don’t like how they don’t offer regular silverware?? I had to ask for some and still was only brought a plastic pho spoon. The best thing here was the homemade limeade which...
