Penn Station East Coast Subs — Restaurant in Toledo

The food was great, but the service left a lot to be desired. I haven’t eaten at a Penn Station in years, and since I recently moved near one, my wife and I decided to give it another try on Sunday, Sept 7, 11:15ish AM.

I ordered an Italian grilled sub with banana peppers on one half. While it was being made, I politely asked if they could also add extra tomatoes to the half with the banana peppers. Instead of simply explaining the policy, the worker spoke to me in a rude manner, in front of other customers, saying:

“Moving forward, you’ll need to order two small subs instead, because we can’t put two different toppings on one sub.”

Since they had no problem putting banana peppers on only half, I assumed adding tomatoes would be just as reasonable. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.

They don’t wash their hands. Apparently it takes less than 10 seconds to wash your hands properly. The rude female on the register who touched my money-nasty money, barely rinse her hands and proceeded to grab the onions and peppers with her bare hands. I manage a restaurant here in Toledo and had to take a class at the health department, it is incredibly difficult for sushi chefs to be allowed to work without gloves and when I asked her to wash her hands she snapped at me and said she did and they aren’t required to wear gloves. They are absolutely disgusting, aren’t attentive to customers, and the part of the back of the house I could see was filthy. Will never go back and will always be sure to mention my experience to everyone as much as I can. Your staff sucks. You should overhaul your employees before you get somebody sick. Food borne...

So I’m currently here I didn’t realize the restaurant closed at 10 because I’ve never been here.. the reason I even came here is because one of my friends moms was eating this the other day and was telling me how good they were & I have to try it and here I am. I wasn’t greeted coming in or even when I got to the register the man was extremely rude so being the person I am I asked was he alright & his response was “I would be if people didn’t come in 10 minutes before we were closing” which is understandable I’ve never been here and didn’t even know what time closing was but whatever I’m still here before 10 currently waiting on my food that I really don’t even want anymore because of how poor the customer service is but I didn’t want to be rude and just walk out. I definitely won’t be back...
