Prices were surprisingly high for how good it was and overall I'm not sure if I would even choose big dogs now given my poor experience with their burgers, shakes, and sides, compared to cheaper places in TR. I have done both done in and take out. I'm putting my overall review as 2* instead of 1* because it's not like the food was disgusting and the service has been fine. Atmosphere is also 2* because new location feels weird. Maybe it's the random green wall paint or just feels empty
They used to have my favorite shake of all time, their peanut butter punch (?) but since their new location they completely took away so much of what made it good. Probably to save on costs. I went to pick it up from the counter and it was basically unrecognizable
My experience with their burgers has been okay. Their last location I tried the pizza burger and it was cold, sloppy, and overall not very flavorful or juicy. At this new location I tried their texican burger which is perfect for me and it was very mediocre, especially with how floppy and thin their bacon was that I had to tear it, patty was okay, flavor was okay, and bun was nothing special. Maybe their standard burgers and chicken sandwiches are the way to go for sandwiches, rather than specialty
As far as their king size mozzarella sticks go, they're definitely S tier. However they are so huge that I wouldn't get full enjoyment out of it unless I'm with a group and we sit down. Very crispy and insane flavor and perfect mozz. When I took leftovers home, even zapped in the air fryer, there was no hope in getting them even a little bit crispy and they just folded over so I had to use a fork. The flavor was still there though. At least burger 25's shrinkflation'd mozz sticks would get crispy again (but I don't get those anymore either because they're probably just frozen)
For their fries, we took them home and they weren't even crispy at all. They were just regular good fries. We had to zap them in the air fryer to get them crispy. Burger 25 fries are still crispy fresh in takeout as if we were dining in. That could just be a different style though
One other saving grace might be their cheesesteak dip with pita chips. We had it at the previous location and it was incredible but probably only good as sit down. Not sure if they changed the recipe at...
Read moreMy dad and I wanted to try something new to try so we tried Big Dogs. I ordered for 2 people (my stepmom) and my dad ordered for himself. My dad has a severe sesame allergy so before paying and before they started cooking just ask that the bun is plain. Which the cashier seemed to agree too when asked by my dad if the bun would be plain. There’s a clear language barrier, both employees don’t know english. Once we got our burger we realized it was a sesame bun, so we kindly went back inside and explained my dad can not have this burger bc of the sesame bun, he’s allergic. They grasped that the bun was the issue, they then placed the burger down as if they were ready to dissemble it to put it on the new Plain bun we had just asked for. When I caught on they were about to ONLY replace the bun, so we used google translate to say my dad is highly allergic to sesame once again and he can die if he eats the burger they gave us just because of the bun touching the burger and being wrapped together. They finally grasped we needed a new burger made. I paid about $60 for food and I totally understand not knowing english, but you don’t play when it comes to allergies or not. We specified before paying about the bun and the cashier agreed with us that they understood but yet never once did.
They do have good food i won’t deny that! but if you have specific allergies when it comes to food i’d really fight until they understand or they’ll just replace the problem...
Read moreI LOVED this place. However, ever since the Bayville location opened it’s been going downhill. The food was always great and the staff was always friendly, what happened??? Our last few experiences from both locations have been terrible.
One of the girls at the front was not only rude but she completely skipped over us to let a friend of hers cut us so we just walked out and most recently we had the unfortunate experience of finding out in the worst way possible that they changed their menu in order to charge the customer more and give you less. Not to mention the last three times we ate at these places we either got a completely wrong item or they didn’t listen to our specifications at all and couldn’t eat what we got. This time when we called and told them we were missing half the order they made it very clear they did not care. “We changed the menu idk what to tell you” was their response. Yet if you look at the menu the items show they still come with fries, but it’s your problem not theirs.
We recommended this place to everyone ever since they opened and now I won’t recommend them at all. Truly a shame bc they had a good thing going. This place has made us appreciate our other local mom and pops shops so much more than we already did.
So to clarify: they charge you more now, took half of the meal away, screw up the half you get and tell you it’s your problem when you aren’t...
