My boyfriend and I come to NYWB for breakfast occasionally. Usually on a weekend morning when we are in a rush. There is usually a line especially in the summer, but where isn't there a line. Last Sunday the 1st of July was a horrible experience at best. To begin there wasn't a line so I think people know when this woman is working and know to just stay away. We stopped a few feet before the counter so she could finish what she was doing before we came up, but instead we wound up waiting 5 minutes for her to finish talking to her "girls". Once she finally took notice of us, she just looked at us. No "Can I help you?" no nothing. We got over that quickly when we ordered our food. I got a Taylor ham egg and cheese sandwich on a sesame seed bagel with pepper only and my boyfriend got 2 egg whites and home fries with white toast. (Had she given us a receipt in the first place we would have caught her mistakes sooner). We then waited off to the side so the next person could order when we decided that we were going to buy a quart of skim milk. The reason why I am Specifying skim milk is because when I went up to the counter she said "2%" and I said "No, it's skim" She proceeded to tap a bunch of things on the screen without a word. There is a $5 card minimum so I had paid with cash. My total was $1.59 so I got out exact change. She was not happy with this. The counter woman (who was about 50) proceeded to childishly tap her nails and sigh loudly at me while I got my change out. I finished paying and stepped to the said again. Our food came and we were off. Upon arrival at home we discovered that she had given us a horribly wrong order. And it was not the cooks fault because that was in fact on the receipt. She gave me Taylor ham and cheese (no egg) and salt (not pepper) and my boyfriend got eggs over easy (Runny yolks and all) and wheat toast (not white). I don't get it. Who said anything about over easy? It's not like I said anything about salt for my order, I said pepper. Why was there salt on my sandwich? You could literally see the grains of salt in the cheese! The woman at the counter on Sundays is horrible! If you do decide you want to go and see a middle aged woman with a shirt too tight and leather skin that's over-tanned and fake...
Read moreBagels are subpar at best in quality, size and taste. The staff seems to be inept in understanding and fulfilling orders. The first time our order was incorrect, I chalked it up to masks making it difficult to hear. Despite becoming physically ill from a whole wheat everything bagel, we gave them the benefit of the doubt. In addition to getting our order incorrect yet again, we were charged 1.90 for one, yes a singular, slice of bacon. I had asked about a sandwich with multiple meat that was egg & dairy free. I was told that would be like "The Great Bambino" which is 2 eggs, hash brown, American cheese, bacon, sausage & Taylor ham for 7.95. I said ok I just don't want egg or cheese. I was then asked what I wanted as my second meat so I said bacon. I was charged 6.90 for just Taylor ham & bacon. So again charged 1.90 for a singular piece of bacon and an incorrect order. This was discovered upon returning home. I called to inform them but said I could just talk about it next time we come in. Nope. He wanted to justify the mistake right there on the phone. I tried explaining but was basically written of with "that's how it it". Well bad customer service results in bad reviews. That's just how it is. So while some may enjoy these small bagels that lack real flavor, it is a hard no for me. We wanted to support local businesses, but customer service will always be at the forefront of where I choose to spend money. If you completely disregard your customers while having an inferior product, you will only survive for so long. Given there is a substantial deficit in quality bagel places in Toms River, I imagine this establishment will continue to be in business. That being said, Toms River deserves better. The hunt for a good bagel place...
Read moreThis is now the third time I've ordered from here in the past month and they've gotten the order wrong on one or more of the many sandwiches we ordered! They unfortunately have a hard time running a business properly, especially when it comes to customer service and preparing accurate orders. When placing my latest order, I asked them to read back each of the 4 sandwiches and I made it clear that the one sandwich cannot have cheese on it. Well surprise surprise, the sandwich had cheese. I called back 12 times but the phone was busy, but I was able to speak to someone on call number 13. She picked up, said immediately "Hold On' and placed the phone down for 4 MINUTES, then when she came back on I explained that the sandwich was incorrect and that I needed the correct sandwich to be made. We drove another 10min back to there to pick up the correct sandwich, to which she actually CHARGED us for it. She said per her manager, they had called to go over the order and we did not reiterate no cheese on the second call, therefore its our fault and we have to pay for the replacement.
While you may think this is just one bad review, let me remind you that we own a local business that typically ordered once a week and now none of us will be...
