My husband and I tried Virg’s the other day and it was alright. We left happy and full. Tonight we decided we’d go again for dinner and let me tell you; our experience this time was anything but pleasant.
We sat down and for the first part of our meal went fine. We got a our drinks, got our dinner salads and then our waitress too our salads (taking my husbands fork with her). We got our food and at first glance, it looked good. Both of us started eating, my steak was meant to be medium. It was well-done. The side veggies tasted like they had been cooked in used cooking water. I had asked for my gravy on the side, but that didn’t happen. No biggy though, I went on eating since it wasn’t that big of a deal. BUT what was a big deal is while my husband is trying to eat his Holy Hog Dinner, he stops and looks at the meat. And pulls back the breading to ask me, “is it meant to be pink?” We both looked at it closely and pulled more of it apart. THE PORK WASN'T EVEN COOKED ALL THE WAY. Do they not know how dangerous that is?!?! Beef? Sure it’s fine to be under done. Chicken? No. Pork? No! We sit there and wait for our waitress to come back to tell her; we sit there waiting and waiting. Finally she comes and gives my husband his refill that he asked for forever ago. Before she rushes off, we show her his food and she quickly says sorry and tells us she will talk to the cooks and make my husband another one. So we sit there and wait, she brought him a new plate and I asked her for another fork for him since he was trying to eat his first with a spoon. The second was cooked correctly, but had no flavor. And that was it. No manager came to apologize, no additional apology from anyone when that is a pretty serious mistake. We even paid full price for both entrees. Now I understand mistakes happen, I understand they don’t have to give a discount or special treatment. But come on. Virg’s it is completely unacceptable to let things like that happen. What if my husband hadn’t noticed? That is extremely neglectful and against any food handlers permit. I would know, I have mine. Do better. Because I know you’ve lost our business and I hope no one else has this...
Read moreOf the food I've tried so far, the buttermilk biscuits and the bacon is really good, and the hash browns are ok (which from me is good because I don't like the hash browns at any restaurant). Coffee is good and they provide real half and half. They could do better with their gravy that goes on the biscuits. Country gravy is easy to make as it is fat, flour, and milk. They have very good bacon, I haven't tried their breakfast sausage yet but I would expect it to be at least standard if not on par with the quality of the bacon. Those two things would provide ample flavorful fat for making the gravy. Just cook the flour in the fat then add in the milk, season with salt and pepper if needed. Instead what they have tastes like a just add water mix, and not a very good one at that. And the french toast was flavorless, like the bread had been dipped in straight beaten egg, same as used for making the omelettes. No cinnamon, nutmeg, or vanilla. Spices commonly used in the egg mix when making french toast were absent. And by the very yellow omelette like color I don't beleive any milk product was added to the egg mix either. I have only been here twice and they do have a rather large menu, so I have obviously not tried everything. I have been in the mood for breakfast food both visits. I will likely return to try food from other sections of the menu, they have quite a selection of fish to choose from under their fish & chips section, including shark! Many of the locals rather enjoy the place as the parking lot in front is always at least half full. Though I may ask the server for a...
Read moreEdit: Decided to come eat here again at the new location. We werent in a hurry so the crazy long wait times and slow service wasnt a big deal but I could hear and see people around us not happy about it. People shouldn't be waiting for their checks for a long time. The guy up front is not very friendly. The coffee was so burnt. It had to have been an old pot someone made and left on the burner to prepare for the busy morning and they forgot it for a few hours. Food was terrible again. Verde went feon salty to zero flavor. My cali Benedict tasted aweful. My hashbrowns were barley cooked and soggy/cold. They literally got tossed on the heat stirred and served. Tooeles service industry and resturant choices all deserve 1 star if that. I sure hope this town becomes an actual loveable place.
We used to love this place. We drive all the way from salt lake to eat here bc the local locations are aweful, after today it's going to be no more virgs for us. My son and I had great plates but the verde literally taste like the cook poured a cup of table salt in it. I let them know at the end of the meal that they should taste it to double check its not just my taste buds bc it was gag worthy. I still paid for it and tipped over 20 percent even though they dismissed my concern and basically treated me like I was some naggy Nancy and even defended the cooks work history for them which is fine. I get it. I've been in the service industry for over a decade but that doesn't mean your cook didnt mess up a batch of verde. I just wanted them to be aware and fix it for the...
