The service was horrible! Our drinks were not made correctly. We had to ask about our food multiple times and once we were starting to get frustrated and asked in not such a polite manner as we had been, it came out in less than 2 minutes. You could tell it had been sitting for a while. The kitchen manager tried to excuse it by saying the kitchen was behind. If that's the case, someone could have said so and checked on us. Speaking of which, our waitress never once came to check on us to see if we wanted another drink or if our food was okay (once we received it). People that arrived after us got their food before us. If the kitchen WAS behind, everyone's food would have taken a while, not just ours. We ordered an appetizer that came at the same time as our meals. The thing is, there were only 2 of us. Tables of 4, 5, and 6 guests received more attention and their food before us, even though we arrived and ordered first. When we asked for the check, I already had my credit card ready. I told her that I wanted to pay and didn't want to wait any longer. When she brought my card back, it was attached to 2 receipts and a pen and she threw them down on the table so hard it made a clink sound and just walked away. I make a point of going there every time I'm in town, which is often. I will not be visiting there again. Time to...

Where’s The Food???

For a place that is calling itself a tavern and not just a sports bar that is serving overpriced food to drunk patrons, this is the question that’s looming in my mind. My food was brought to my car quickly, but there was hardly anything to complement the meal on, especially the size. At over $14 (tax & tip included) you’d expect to not have to wonder. The “side dish” to my meal was so small I could barely get the head of a teaspoon into the serving dish to get it out. The fish was edible, but barely even 3 of those frozen fish planks in size. The hush puppies were swimming in grease. There is no excuse if a place has a menu this extensive (family sized meals & 2 types of mac and cheese), that a patrons’ single meal should be so lacking because its obvious they’re set up to do food service. Not even any napkins or silverware in the to go sack! It’s just that overpriced and nonchalant in attitude. I’m giving this place 1 star only because food was brought out fresh & warm carside by a nice gal. Go across the street to Long John Silver’s for a better meal. I definitely...

The Atmosphere is great just wish food and service would match and it never has. 50% fries are not hot even if we mention to server. Definitely they do not know how to cook burger medium it's always well done again even if we mention it to the server. Service is marginal at best and it looks as if most of the times they have plenty of servers so I'm not sure why servicevis an issue. I get you don't want to be a bother or seem like a pest as a server but maybe just maybe every 10min come by and you'll notice your tips will increase. I we tip great for great service 25% at least and have Been known to tip 50% to 100% if an issue occurs and our server tries to do thete best. I also tip none or $1 for terrible to no service and that for the most part Is under the severs control. As least lwt us me know what's going on but then again if we I see a pattern I can go elsewhere #1 reason I don't go to Red Robin Never any hot fries until later and poor service has been that way for 15yrs at least even after the manager of Blue Moose took over...

In the hunger search for lunch - this was across the lot from the hotel. Thank you for the awesome service! (Lady on phone Shawna {Bar/sorry about spelling of name} ) Friendly staff of hosts directed us to the bar once we arrived. Ordered an item I had forgotten and lightning fast it was prepared. Shawna double checking the food items caught a mistake and fixed it fast. I paid at the bar & she ran my card with new total in lightning fast fashion. We picked up to go food and headed back to the hotel. Order of appetizer of jack bites, potato skins, nachos - DELICIOUS, the crispy texture was still there when we got it to the hotel. Chicken tenders kids meal was tasty and the daughters were excited. Johnnys classic salad as my dad said was The bomb!!!! Accurate order - absolutely... Easy in and out of the parking lot. 5 stars for this visit! Looking forward to next visit! •Keep up your Twitter work as it lured me in 😉• Respectfully, Bryan Yukon, Oklahoma (I salivate at the stuff they post to Twitter all the time)

I had heard a lot of hype about Johnny's Tavern and for the most part, it lived up to it. I ordered the 78' burger with loaded fries. The burger was great but a little on the thin side, and it lacked tomatoes which would have enhance the flavor. The patty itself was cooked perfectly, it simply lacked any distinct flavor. The fries were almost awesome. The only thing wrong was the bacon. It had a very distinct burnt taste. My friend said his chips tasted burnt as well, and that detracted from the meals. I'm certain, that all of this will emprove. Everything else pretty much rocked. I've loved the big wooden tables and cushioned seats, with plenty of tv's to watch the game, and the beer, wine, and drink selection was strong, (no Fat Tire 😔). Over all a great place to go, that's not terribly expensive, but has room for emprovement. I'd say go if you can, but not don't wait in line for too long. I'll be back, and I really want to give them five stars. With a few small improvement's I can.

My wife and I decided to finally try out Johnny's Tavern first time since it opened in Topeka, too crowded most times. We had no wait, and the restaurant appeared almost filled. First, brand new we both liked the setup, kinda noisy but it is what it is. We tried the Espinacho with chicken, awesome goodness and really enough for a meal in of itself for two. I ordered the Smoked Gouda Burger (grilled chicken) my wife ordered the Fish N' Chips. The fries could have been cooked just a few minutes longer, still edible though. The hush puppies were ok. The onion rings were good. The chicken burger and fish were good. The tartar sauce, house made was a bit spicier than desired, my wife did not like it, I thought it was ok. The ranch dressing given to my wife was very watery, still kinda tasted like ranch though. Our server Schaffer was polite and knowledgeable enough. We both agreed to give Johnny's another try in a few months.
