Update: Don't waste your money with these guys that don't "know Jack", as claimed in their commercials. You'll end up spending a bunch more money when you have to take your vehicle to someone else to fix everything they screw up. 1 year after all the problems with the poor professionalism and terrible installation and the back-up camera goes out. Took it to Auto Sound and discovered that the wire used to run from the stereo to the camera was wrong and they forced it in to several areas causing the wire to be pinched. That was what caused the short that blew out the camera. Now I had to pay another $250 for another camera and to have all new, correct wire to be run. Don't waste your time with Car Toyz, because not only will they screw up the installation, you'll end up spending a bunch more money to get it fixed right with a real professional. Yes, it's worth repeating more than once. Original review: No $200 rebate form on the KENWOOD eXcelon that we decided to purchase because it was promised to us. Also, I am not happy with the lack of quality and professionalism of this install since my glove box is almost sprung because they did not want to put forth the effort to look up how to take apart the center console and run the USB wires to a proper location, parts belonging to the vehicle are falling off because they broke them off, the remote start they recommended and installed does not work as promised, the navigation system says that my car is pointing West when I am facing East 90% of the time, and they did not incorporate the existing microphone in the vehicle to the system and now there is an eyesore mic sitting on the upper left-hand side of my windshield. I could keep going on, but I do not have the time, nor the space here, to list everything. I would hate to look behind the system and see how they spliced into the existing wires. My fear is that they used almost a whole role of electrical tape to tie the wires together and seal them. If I wanted this type of low quality of work, I would have done the work myself. In fact, I know that I could have done better work and left a more presentable quality of work after I was done. Now, I am sitting here with USB wires hanging out of a glove-box that cannot be closed properly, which is going to eventually break the internal wires due to them being constantly pinched, along with a remote start that takes over 30 seconds to start and does not control the locks on the doors in either direction, pieces and parts of my vehicle that are falling off because they pried them off and broke the plastic tabs, or the metal clips that hold the panels, and a system that does not do everything that was promised it would do without the $200 rebate that was promised that got us to purchase this system in the first place. Why is it that I'm supposed to call you back when you told us that you would call us back when you were supposed to order the plastic part for the handle on the rear hatch the day after we left. Personally, I do not want to take it back to that particular location, since they don't know how to properly treat a customer's vehicle and thinks that leaving hanging wires is an acceptable professional installation. They definitely don't "know Jack" as claimed in their...
Read moreI requested a complete system install. Was told would take between 2-3hours. Dropped my truck off at my scheduled time 11am at 2:30 when I called to check on pick up time was told "only been working on my truck for about an hour." At 3:30pm recieved a text message stating they don't know how to install the head unit. At 4pm I called to inquire what the problem was and at that point told them not to install head unit and just to finish installing speakers from which I was told they were only half way done with mind you they had been "working" on my car since 1:30pm and two and half hours later they had only installed 2 front speakers and my tweeters. Remember they didn't know how to install the head unit so no time at all was spent on installing that! I arrived at the business at 5pm at which point they had my vehicle for a total of 6 hours at that point. The manager at no point even acknowledged me or tried to apologize for the inconvenience. At 5:30pm my truck was finally pulled around at which point I just wanted to leave due to the fact I had already had to use uber earlier in the day due to the inconvenience of my truck being there for 6.5 hours. To only have 4door speakers and 2 tweeters installed no wiring ran just install. The next evening when getting out of my truck I notice my dashboard is broke in two separate spots. The new dash cost $160.00 that's a pretty expensive part to break and then not even tell the customer about it offer a discount or to buy and/or fix the issue your business created. I returned to the business the following day to speak with the manager. Upon letting him know of my broke dashboard he began telling me how I have an '07 and they all break in those spots even though he had only looked at one break it seemed he knew where the other break was as well already. He began to give excuse after excuse of why my dash was broken but continued saying we didn't do it we didn't do it. When I told him he need to pay for the replacement dashboard as the one in the vehicle is beyond repairable. He tried telling me I signed a waiver so I could do nothing and he wasn't held liable. He also at this point began cursing at me and about the situation constantly repeating its and '07 I've seen a ton of them break like that. I don't know if the Lawrence or KC locations are ran this poorly with bad business practices but the Topeka location is a 100% avoid...
Read moreOk this may be a bit wordy. I have a semi exotic car that I’m really protective of because it’s always been my dream car. It’s a low mileage Porsche cayman s. My factory speakers were all blown and the stock radio lacked the technology required for today’s standard beings the car is 20 years old.. I spoke with Zach about my concerns of having stereo equipment installed as I didn’t want to alter or disturb the factory appearance of the car or have broken door clips from removal and reinstall of door panels dash etc. I explained to him what I was looking for in terms of quality clear sound without having to much where it will rattle body panels or interior parts. He suggested an updated pioneer screen with Apple car play, high quality component set up, with a good quality 5 channel amp and small sub woofer for low range base. I spoke with Dameon, he’s one of the more seasoned installers. We had a conversation and He assured me that he would take his time and not rush any part of the process as to not sacrifice a high quality install for time. (This was a huge plus for my anxiety about the situation.) I’m so happy with the look and sound quality. Sounds like a factory high end system which is exactly what I was going for. This is a trustworthy and patient company. Dameon is a nice guy and Zach was very knowledgeable and helpful. They listen and accommodate to their customers and I’m thankful for car toyz in topeka....
