A couple of years ago, I ate here at least once a week. The service was above average, the food was always piping hot, and I always walked away fat and happy, precisely what one wants from a restaurant.
Unfortunately, I had to cut back to once a month tops for several reasons. Managers started complaining about drive-thru customers on a personal level with customers in the lobby. This taught me my business was not valued.
Then I had an issue for about two months where every single time I was dining in, one of the women would make a point of cleaning the tables in my immediate vicinity while touching none of the others. It was very clear what she was doing, and even if it wasn't, I was not comfortable eating a meal while someone hovered over me. Had a man been doing this to a customer who was a woman, this would have been considered entirely unacceptable. As a result, my visits became even more infrequent.
Nevertheless, I do still like the food, so once in a great while I would return.
My last two visits, I did not like the food. Nothing was remotely warm. The fries were cold each time. Clearly they weren't being made to order anymore. Then the mozzarella sticks would be served cold and hard instead of warm and gooey. It was clear these were no longer being made to order either and just sitting under heat lamps for who knows how long.
Arby's used to be one of the few remaining quick-service restaurants where you could get a reasonable satisfying meal. Clearly, that is no longer the case.
It is time for my visits to become even more rare. I will no longer spend my money on sub-par food, which is clearly all this Arby's offers...
Read moreI've never been to an Arby's before, as the closest one to my home is 2 hours away. A work trip finally brought me close enough to try it out though, so I got a Loaded Italian, a Buffalo Chicken Slider, a Roast Beef Slider, a Jamocha Shake, and some Mozzarella Sticks. Obviously the food isn't gourmet, but that's not what you'd expect from the quick service industry, is it? With my little sampler layed out to see a larger range of what they offered, I can say this: The roast beef was better than standard lunch meat quality would bring you, which for a $1 slider is incredible. The chicken was crunchy and fairly tender inside, and the buffalo sauce they used I can describe in no other way than nostalgic, reminding me of my favored food truck I once regulared as a child when my family went on vacation. The italian sub's vegetables felt and tasted fresh, and I cannot complain. The shake was ice cream parlor quality (over other quick service restaurants, definitely) and absolutely the largest shake I've ever seen. My only complaint I can make about Arby's is that, while the Mozzarella sticks are better than Burger King's for my tastes, the accompanying sauce was bland and tasted closer to lunchables pizza sauce. That aside, Arby's is indisputably my favorite quick service...
Read moreWe went to the Arby's in Topsham because I needed to sit and unwind for a few with some decent fast food, but their lobby was closed due to staffing... I was very disappointed having to eat in the truck I had been in all day, but not their fault, right? We got to the drive thru, I ordered a Reuben and hubby, who doesn't eat hot stuff, ordered the new Diablo challenge beef sandwich. I wondered what he was thinking... The order came to us correctly and quickly. He took one bite, turned colors and I gave him my Reuben. and he ate it all up. I ate the Diablo and I gotta say, Arby's, you finally got the spicy sandwich right! It is messy, not a truck sandwich, but the Diablo is no joke. I love spicy, and am always disappointed with the "spicy" that fast food offers. Wimpy, flavorless food that is missing the heat altogether. Not the Diablo. My first bite was kind of a disappointment, but with my second bite all the flavors come together, and there is a lot going on here. Sweet, smoky, beef. And heat. My lips burned for about half an hour after eating. No joke... Terrific. But not for those who don't like hot. This is not a medium sandwich. It is truly spicy. I loved it!!! Tasty!!! If you like good and hot, check out this sandwich before...
