THE PLACE TO GO AND THE PLACE TO BE!!!
We have been visting this place since my wife was pregnant with our beautiful son. Now he is a 5 year old boy who says this restaurant is his absolute favorite restaurant!
Definitely try to avoid busy times so that you don’t have to wait!
For the first time visitors, this is a no ordinary K-BBQ. Haksan specializes in intestine BBQ. If you never had it, you might feel strange about doing a bbq with intestine. Intestine BBQ is in fact one of the most popular dish in Korea.
There are a few well-known intestine BBQ places in Los Angeles county. But I can definitely and proudly can tell you that Haksan is THE best place of all. Their meat quality is beyond expectations even for Koreans from Korea. The amount of food is quite big but very affordable (especially in this terrible economy, fulfilling good quality food with affordable pricing is a gem that you cannot avoid).
Customer Service here is phenomenal. The owner lady of this restaurant is caring enough to say hello to every customers, and would even like to talk to you if you wish to ask any quesitons about anything. The most impressive thing is that they pre-cook everything so that you can eat almost right away (except for some meat, they do tell you that you should wait and cook a bit more and then eat).
Environment is lively but not loud at all. One of downsides of many korean bbq places is that their music is too loud. Haksan does play music but not loud that it's comfortable.
If you go to a Korean restaurant, or any asian restaurant for that matter, the first thing you want to look for is "how many of their own people are visiting" and "how many of older people of their own people are visiting." During busy weekend dinner time, this place is thriving with all ages and ethic groups. In fact, it's very fun just to be there because how happy people are eating there. It's just positive vibe overall!
Remember that time when BTS said that one intestine BBQ in k-town is the best. I want them to come to Haksan and see it for themselves.
LOVE THIS PLACE and will continue to visit here as...
Read moreHow is this place still open? At 5.30pm on a saturday there was not 1 person dining here. I walked in at Saturday around 5.30pm. I asked to look at the menu. Everything looked pretty expensive but I didn't care. Expensive usually means good food. I handed her the menu and said yes great I want to eat. As she started walking I asked to use the restroom first so that I can wash my hands. Her and another younger lady that worked there both looked at me....like other customers reviews mentioned....no smile no nothing. The younger one said that they usually don't uave customers walk in and ask to use their restroom. Look girls...I don't look like a homeless person. So I clearly said, I am a customer and want to eat here but where I'm from Germany/USA it is custom to wash hands before eating. Still, no smile no welcome nor any kind of directives to walk or show me a table to sit down. After a short while I said again that I would like to eat here. Still no smile nothing. So I said..forget it and walked out. Koreans must be pretty dirty if they don't wash their hands before a meal...no offense..but either they are rasists and don't like Americans in their establishment or bathrooms are so dirty that they don't want anyone to use them. Look Mr. Korean owner...here in the USA it's tha law to have a working restroom for customers. And if you don't like serving white people than say so. I will have city inspector send to this place. Please stay tuned for updates. I don't recommend going there if you are not Korean. You won't...
Read moreFirst review of this place and it will be the last. The service was super terrible. Went in as a party of five, and we wanted to order a medium mix intestine combo. The server lady kept telling us that as a party of five we should get the large. We kept telling her we wanted to order other dishes too, not just the intestine. First, she was rude. Then, throughout the whole dinner, we got no water refill. We asked for banchan refill and they only brought one thing. Next is the food: the banchan was terrible, not great in taste. We got the medium mix intestine combo, the spicy intestine soup (tasted average, also it come with rice well they never bring it so we told them just don't bother bring it), the fried rice with cheese (tasted bad, only salty and sour from the kimchi). Also, a cold noodle dish didn't come out until we finished all of the other dishes. The banchan corn cheese literally had no cheese. I didn't even...
