I only come here on Saturdays, sometimes Tuesdays for the Farmer’s Market. Parking is the worst; especially for handicapable folks. The vendors should not be allowed to park there (and they take up more than one space and the handicapped spaces (they don’t have placards). Sometimes I just leave because I have to park so far away and I am unable to get to the market to walk around after walking so far from the parking down the block.
Was really upset with the Cortez booth. They were the first place I went to and they were kind enough to hold onto my produce but I asked them to leave the tops on the carrots and beets. They are edible and I use them. I also bought a 3-pack of strawberries. When I came back to pick them up and got home, they had torn off the carrot and beets tops, plus they tossed the 3-pack of strawberries in the same bag (I originally had them separately) and they were sideways and smashed against the other vegetables. Are they so cheap that they had to save that really crummy bag and smashed my produce? Had to toss at least 1-1/2 baskets out. So mad! I will never spend my money there again. I will use Hayashi or another vendor.
The Salsa vendor was rude and really acts like he doesn’t need your business. He only had hot or mild and since he makes it on site, I figured that mixing the two to make a medium would be no problem. He blew his top telling me I would be ruining his “secret” recipe. If that’s the case, post a sign so people don’t wait in line for nothing; especially when you have a walker!
The egg vendor is always great as is the bison people. I bought 2 zucchini plants. We’ll see how it grows.
I used to enjoy my Saturdays here but it’s going downhill. The best thing I bought was the Hayashi produce and the Torrance Farmer’s Market canvas bag. Always enjoy...
Read moreI come to Wilson park with my family to walk our dog at least once a day 5-6 times a week. We like coming here because it’s a very people and pet friendly park, it’s fun to meet other dog owners and their dogs. The park itself is really big with 3 or 4 baseball fields, large exercise area with modern exercise equipment available to the public for free, a batting cage, ice skating rink, basketball courts, large picnic area with tables and bbq pits, a very big and nice tree house in the middle of the park(perfect for wedding pictures), a huge playground for kids, tennis courts, a big splash area for kids to play and get wet , a large fenced in area for horseshoe throwing(sometimes they have tournaments there), and a very nicely built concert stage where they often have live entertainment perform on some weekends(we got to watch a local symphony orchestra perform live this past Labor Day holiday it was great!) On the other side of the park they have a whole Farmer’s Market set up in the parking lot I’m not sure what days of the week but I know for sure they have it every Thursday. Wilson park is a great place to spend the day with your family or even if you just want to relax and read a good book by yourself in the shade! There’s lots to see and do here! I almost forgot about parking! Parking is usually not hard to find because although you might see a lot of cars there’s many parking lots to choose from and still easily access the park just...
Read moreOne of my new favorite places to go. I had visited the park many times over the last 15 years since I was invited to a birthday celebration there and although I live in Carson, it's just two miles from my home. In June of this year I was walking in the park and I heard the sounds of a train. That's when I saw the small train that runs twice a month over that track alongside the south end of the park. I love a train ride. I've told some local residents I know with small children that they should check it out. Last week I was in need of a place to walk that would have shade because of the August heat. I'm getting ready to walk in the Labor Day Parade for 2½ - 3 miles straight so I wanted to be prepared. I did :45 minutes the first day with my sister-in-law, a long time local resident unaware of the park's amenities. I've gone back now for 4 days straight before I saw the signage that has the .91 mile for the walking path which I appreciated seeing and thus confirming I need 3 laps and most of it is shaded by 5p. I love how well maintained the park is and it always feels like a welcoming and safe place whether I'm with someone...
