If you have a craving for some hole in the wall style authentic food without compromising quality then you've come to the right place. Being a regular here simply comes from living local and not wanting to deal with the hustle and bustle of the outside world. I'll be honest I love the convenience of easy accessible parking anytime we visit since old torrance is not a busy place. The ease of parking for those of us with ada accommodations truly make a huge impact on how the rest of your endeavors may lead. With that being said I do love how accomodating they are with meeting my specific requests.
First impressions can truly make or break your experience and although we are regulars I'll admit customer service falls very short. I understand they could just be overwhelmed and overworked despite the place never being busy at any chance we happen to visit but personality is lacking. I do have my favorite server who recognizes me and pretty much knows mine and my partners order. But when we are not seated in her section we don't leave with the same happy experience each time.
My go to is definitely the purple Cadillac margarita which packs a nice flavor of citrus and boozy punch . I love the perfect combination the Chambord adds to the margarita creating a well balanced raspberry taste. I will be honest consistency with quality of food, flavor and presentation also lacks. Some days the complimentary salsa is jam packed with flavor and mild heat and other times it's chuncky bland and flavorless. Likewise with the rest of my food. Although 9 times out of 10 my food is delicious it always tastes different even though I order the exact same thing each week. I'm personally not too fond of cheese and ask for no cheese yet this place loves to pile cheese on any and everything. I do eat my food but usually find myself removing the extra layers of cheese.
I do love how this place maintains the classic hole in the wall flare and food I just wish there was more consistency and personality when visiting. The pricing is amazing for the amount of food you receive and Although small can accommodate wheelchair users like myself as well as other ada needs when requested . My only reasoning for 3 stars is simply customer service lacks eve as a regular and tje food across the board never taste the same. Its a hit or miss each time. It is still a regular in our dining routine when I'm not in the mood to travel a bit further. UT I do hope they make some improvements to help better their rating and customer...
Read moreWe ate outside. It was fine, but it was a temporary setup for COVID so it was in the street. There was a tent that covered the street side, so that was nice. We still has pretty good service, and a waitstaff came by every so often.
The carnitas burrito had nothing in it except meat. (No rice, beans, lettuce, tomato, anything.) The carnitas itself tasted great, and was very tender. But I wouldn't say it's really a burrito if the only ingredients are meat and tortilla. But if you're a meat lover, this "burrito" is for you. And it was still tasty the next day (it was way too much to eat in one sitting).
The tacos (I can't remember which meat I got) were nothing to write home about. The hard shell broke in half upon first bite, and it was easier to just eat it with a fork. The cheese and lettuce spilled out (I couldn't even see where one taco ended and the other began) and it was not a handheld food by any nature. Mediocre and certainly not legit Mexican tacos. The beans in the combo that I ordered were good.
But let's talk about the rice. It was honestly the worst Spanish rice I have ever eaten in my life. It did not remotely taste like tomato - it actually tasted like plastic a bit. The rice was soggy. There was no flavor. I didn't think I was picky with my Spanish rice. I would've been happier with just plain white rice. I've made better Spanish rice at home. Fast food Spanish rice is leagues better. Do not order this rice. I don't know if they add the rice to other dishes, but it probably ruins any dish it goes in. 0/10
The complimentary chips tasted more like store-bought chips to me. Too salty. The person I went with to La Capilla thought they were delicious because he loves salt. I think they were fresh, though. The salsa was good, no complaints.
Essentially, if you want real Mexican food, don't come here. I was not satisfied with their food. The Halloween decorations were really cute, though, and their service and food...
Read moreI really like this restaurant. Had it not been for my family members, I probably would have never gone here. The restaurant is located on a side street that is not visible on any of the main streets. It's not noticeable at all. You have to know where you're going if you plan to go there. The restaurant looks small from the outside, but it's white sizable once you enter. Parking is not ideal because of location. You provide the hostess with the number of your party and you're immediately seated. I've never had to wait when I've gone here. We are always seated at a booth which I think is great. Although they do have seating for large parties which would require your party to sit at tables with chairs. The staff here is joyous, polite, and professional. You have to ask for water if you want it. And they provide chips and salsa until they take your order. I ordered the shredded beef chimichanga which comes with refried beans smothered and cheese, and Mexican rice. Simply Delicious! I am guilty of ordering this every time. Their margaritas are what I would call light. They seem to be a bit watered down. But they are still a quite tasty beverage. Their prices are very reasonable. And the service is great. I'm always satisfied when leaving this restaurant. I've never used there restrooms so I cannot give any feedback on them. The restaurant itself is need clean and tidy and has the feel of a real authentic Mexican restaurant. I recommend them to anyone because of they're delicious...
