We used to buy their pastries once or twice a month but last time we got so disappointed we won’t came back again. After my work my wife asked me to come together before they close, we arrived around 6 pm and got the number 60. The lady in the counter was attending the customer with ticket number 59, on the other side there were two more employees talking to another customer and eventually one or two more employees were coming to the front from the back of the bakery. Meanwhile we waited for our turn, my wife and I were choosing wich pastries to ask for, talking in our first language, spanish. When the lady finished with the previous customer and it was our turn, she squint at us avoiding eye contact and without acknowledging our presence she just moved to the back. We thought she had something urgent to do and that she will be back soon or somebody else, so we just kept waiting and showing that we were ready to place our order... the lady came two or three times, walked by us, turn very fast and ignore us completely. Then some body else walked in, another employee lady came from the back, looked at us, something they both employees talked and then decided to help the new person that walked in without calling out our ticket number or letting us know that somebody will help us. All that happened in about a period of 5 or more minutes. My wife asked me to leave us we were being ignored by I refused, I thought May be there was a misunderstanding. The ladies finished helping the customer that came after us and walked by us. I tried to call their attention but they ignored us again and walked to the back. Meanwhile, another employee, a young guy, finally left what ever he was doing in the left side of the counter and asked us if “we needed help”. I thank him and asked for 4 different pastries. I was about to ask for the last one when he said “do you want something else or that’s it?” We decided not to ask for another pastry, it was clear that they felt uncomfortable with us and were in a hurry that we just finished ordering and leave. That was our last time there, we will never go back again. May be because i was in my working clothes, a little tired, not with a desire to give a complain, after paying we just walked out and walked around old Torrance enyoing life, we have no time to get ruined in our day, but we definitely want to advise other people, they discriminated us and might do the same to you if you don’t wear fresh clothes or if you speak another language, like we did. Don’t expose yourself to...

I live in the neighborhood and I have supported and patronized Torrance Bakery regularly over the past several years. I bring people there from out of town. I tell my colleagues at work, my friends, how great the bakery is and bring them treats. I have ordered specialty cakes, cupcakes, and cookies from the bakery, and I’ve always been satisfied with the quality. However, as a shining star of the businesses in Torrance, I just expect so much more when it comes to their customer service. I don’t know what it is, but people working there must be very unhappy with management or ownership, because they just seem to be miserable. Although it’s not 100%, it just seems that many of the workers there are not very happy. You don’t get a smile or friendly welcome when you come in… it’s like they just want to get your order and get you out of there as fast as possible. I have noticed that when it is busy in there, things seem quite disorganized, and I really think management could work on a workflow that would be better for the workers and for customers. I have never understood why the coffee station isn’t staffed with consistent people who are just focused on coffee orders… maybe you could even pay at the coffee station. But the main issue is just a lack of being friendly and offering outgoing customer service. Final straw for me was Christmas Eve. I saw that the doors were open and that people were in the bakery. I walked in, walked up to the counter, and had three scowling faces looking at me, and one girl announces with a hateful tone, “we’re closed!” Well, obviously, they weren’t closed, because there were people in the store ordering and I was allowed to walk in! …with no one at the door telling people they were closed. No problem with closing early on Christmas but close and lock your doors, and have somebody at the door telling people that you are closed, instead of having such an unfriendly experience (on Christmas Eve!!) when you walk into the shop. I took my money to Marsatta chocolate, where they are always friendly and eager to please. I hope the bakery can address the customer service issue. It’s obvious from other reviews it’s not just me. With such a delightful product, management should be able to hire and train people who are happy to work there. ETA: upgrading my review because of the personal response from management and when I recently went in to purchase something the customer service was much improved. Friendly, helpful workers. Keep it up...

This Mother’s Day gift was absolutely the right size and delicate delicious cake and decorated so cute for my momma who loved everything about her cute tea pot or coffee pot it was so cute and dainty…delicious white cake with butter cream icing this gift was given to momma with so much love that I wanted to come down and check Torrance Bakery myself❤️…I finally came here for the first time at this wonderful bakery all staff members are super kind and helpful…my hat goes out to Michaela for her feed back to me on the great items to choose since it was my first time here…I was suggested to try their pull apart bread…moist bread filled with cinnamon and nuts and a glaze on top…super moist and not to sweet just right the topping is yummy gooey goodness shared with the whole family…I took my nephews each a little boxed surprise my niece who’s about to finish middle school couldn’t get left behind, got her a cheese cake because that’s what she loves…my oldest got a double chocolate cake that taste like a hostess chocolate cake with lots of whipped cream in the middle he just turned 18th and just loves chocolate…the youngest got a variety of 8 cookies for his 8th birthday celebration. Momma enjoyed her blueberry scone with lots of blueberries and the sour cream muffin was delicious that was my choice super soft with a crumble on top and powder sugar coated. Everything everyone got was thumbs up and just constant hearing Yummm auntie these are so good…Made my Sunday specially our family gathering extra special…these three kiddos have it a 5 star rating too 🌻I’m only 12 minutes away and most definitely will return to enjoy some of their other items. Plenty of parking available and lots of little shops around to enjoy the moment…before I forget they also sell coffees there so most definitely a two for 1 🌻to all the staff keep up the good work, from the servers to the cashiers and also the bakers and the maintenance people keeping the place clean inside and out I was able to chat with a few of them and also welcoming of the staff...

We usually go to the Gardena location. Fortunately they ran out of 'Kings Cake' ( Nawlins style ) Mardi Gras *Fat Tuesday Celebration* and the staff had suggested to come here and check out their 75% larger selections of pastries as well as to see if they had any 'Kings Cake's available. Luckily we were able to secure 1 of 3 that was left. The place was just that, about 75% larger than the Gardena location. I couldn't believe the selections they had. Donuts, croissants, macaroons, cookies, muffins, cupcakes, coffee, and more! It's a Saturday and quite busy our server was quite eager to serve us however had trouble with understanding what we came for. We had to say it 3 times until her co worker came up and informed us that she was a new hire. With all due respect I believe the training should've included clairvoyance in communication and knowledge of key items or special sale items to be sold in order to avoid confusion. It wasn't her fault for not knowing. I've worked retail my entire working history and understand. I felt better after the African American gentleman behind the counter cleared that up for us. He informed us that he had baked the cakes himself and was pleased to hear that. I do empathize for the young gal who served us. The rest of the staff were on top of the big Saturday afternoon rush. All in all they made a great first impression and we will be coming back for more pastries and baked goodiness is that even a word? Lol!

For our first anniversary, we ordered a cake in the same flavors as our wedding cake, marble with fudge filling and buttercream (we were not about to freeze a tier of cake for a year when we could order another delicious cake). We didn't color match at all, and I was amazed at how close the colors were to our original cake. Beautiful work. Torrance Bakery does seem to underestimate how many people each cake serves - this cake was supposed to serve 12-16, so I thought my husband and I could each have a piece every day for a week. We were not expecting the cake to be this tall (though we really should have, because how else are they getting a filling in there?), and 1/16 of the cake was an almost obscene amount to eat in one sitting, so what happened instead was that we sent a bunch of cake to my in-laws' and still spent almost a month eating the rest in more moderate portions. After almost a month, the cake was still almost exactly as good as when it was fresh. I'm not exactly recommending you order too much cake and then eat it over the course of a month, but if you go that route, just pop the pieces into some airtight containers, and you'll be fine. We're probably going to do this every anniversary, though hopefully post-COVID we can get some people to share the cake with us.
