OMG!!!!! Burgers like Dad used to cook on the backyard grill!!!
That really should say it all, but allow me to go into detail: I really love that they allow me to substitute leaf lettuce instead of shredded lettuce! (I hate shredded lettuce because it gets all over the darn place.)
They also use real cheese here, not just American cheese, if I am remembering correctly. In addition, they have just about anything you would want to put on your burger: mushrooms, avocado, bacon, egg, cheese, onions raw or grilled, and probably more!
The burgers are big and juicy, rivaling Five Guys and the (now defunct?) Burger City Grill. They have the large type of fries that are called steak fries, I believe. (I haven’t been there in a while, so I don’t remember!).
What I do know is that their food is totally awesome! It’s a little bit more expensive than McDonald’s, but not by much, and you get really high-quality food here. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a burger. I think they’re even better than Five Guys, and that is saying a lot because I love Five Guys too!
The only place so far that beats Steve’s WAS Burger City Grill, but they were a lot more expensive and Fantastic Burger bought them out at their location on PCH in Lomita.
I used to think that was the only location of BCG, but having just looked it up right now, I see that they have a Torrance location!!
I’m going to have to perform a blind taste test challenge between Five Guys, BCG, and Steve’s!
At Steve’s, I always order the same thing: a burger with avocado, bacon, cheddar cheese, mayonnaise or special sauce, A1 sauce if they have it, tomato, no onions, no shredded lettuce, Substitute leaf lettuce, with a side of fries, extra salt! And once in a while, even a chocolate shake. And it is always delicious!
They also serve hand-dipped shakes. That means they scoop the ice cream out of the container only when you order it, put it into the blender, and mix it with milk just for your order; it’s isn’t liquified soft serve coming out of a machine. Very few places do that anymore. The shakes here are...
Read moreWoow I've been coming here for the past 8 months an have always received good service and food. I just so happen to go with my girl through the drive threw. We both were very hungry. We ordered the samething according to my recommendation to my girl about the food. It was her first time there i spoke highly of Steve's. We both got the cheese burger spe ial with large drinks and fries. Went home and ate the food, the meat did have a weird smell. I did t think anything of it. Later that night before I headed to work my stomache started hurting. I started to think, what did I eat that has my atomache hurting and bloated. I didn't realize until my girl asked me if my atomache was hurting letting me know that her atomache wasn't feeling all that great. Right then I knew it was the food from Steve's. All this time of eating there plus tipping the cashiers when ever I had a chance and nothing had ever happened. But all of a sudden when I decide to take my girl there Steve's let's me down and gets us both sick. I knew why it happened, the cooks and people working there are under the impression that I am mexican, so when I pulled up to the drive thru window and they see that my girl friend isn't mexican like they assume I am. Now all of a sudden we get and pay for some food that made us sick after eating there for 8 months, now all of a sudden we both get sick. I get that alot, late o folks assuming I'm mexican when I am not, and recieving bad service or food that isn't good. It's very disappointing to be treated as such or to even feel that you was treated bad casue of people making an ass of them selves and assuming a person's race according to there asking color. The trying to judge me for dating with in my race under the assumption that I am mexican. I will never ever as long as I live in Torrance will I ever recommend anyone to go there nor will I ever...
Read moreI don’t know why I’ve never written a review for Steve’s—I've been eating here since elementary school! This no-frills mom-and-pop diner has been serving consistently delicious comfort food for as long as I can remember.
As a kid, my absolute favorite was the fried zucchini. I’d scour the house for loose change just to scrape together enough to order it. It’s crunchy, salty, perfectly greasy, and downright magical when dipped in ranch. Pure perfection.
Other must-haves: the chili cheese fries and the chili cheese dog—with mustard! Trust me, the mustard takes it to another level. Bean and cheese burrito and cheeseburger hits the spot every time. AGAIN, you're not coming here to watch your calories, you're here to top off that calorie meter!
Steve’s is the ultimate spot for nostalgic, satisfying comfort food. If you haven’t tried it, you’re missing out! Call ahead during peak hours to save yourself some time and skip the wait!
PRO TIP: Eat everything fresh if you can—it’s just not the same if you wait until you get home. Trust me, enjoy it ASAP for the...
