I have seen this place for over 20 years and I was rushing today and decided not to go to my normal place in this area and stopped in. Cashier was friendly however I was parked in a handicapped spot with my placard displayed and another customer comes in yelling at me are you handicapped and I say yes and she yells at me you don't have your placard displayed. I look out the window and say ma'am yes I do and she looks out and says oh it is temporary, ok. Apparently She is a regular. The next thing I am waiting for my BLT and notice the crazy lady is served a BLT. About 5 mins later the waiter walks over to her and says oh this is not yours and proceeds to bring it to me. I say you just took that from her table and you are trying to give it to me. He says it's ok she didn't touch it. Mind you I saw her move the plate and breathe heavily over the food and carry on a conversation over the food. I said no it is not ok. I want another sandwich. Now I got what I hope was another sandwich but I do not trust it. Now I see why I never stopped in before. I will not be returning. Terrible experience with the exception of the cashier...
Read moreCan't believe I haven't done a review for Y Not yet. I've been coming here since the 1980's. Sure, there's been some changes (& I lived further away back then but Y Not was close to my job at the time) My wife LOVES the Club Sandwich. We are in Torrance frequently & if she's hungry - she wants to go to Y Not. I get either the Pastrami Burger, Gyro (Wrap) or Buffalo Burger. Their fries knock most other locations out of the ball game. No comparison. We don't eat inside as often as we used to but the booths were a great edition compared to what you find everywhere else. I even bought a T-Shirt & if you go, you'll see people take photos of their Y Not shirts being worn at faraway vacation destinations. Like I said, I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place before. If you go, take time to eat inside. The wall painting is uniquely Southbay. I hope this location stays around because a lot of places close after awhile. (it's right on the corner, and a side note - it's PRIME LOCATION was once a gas station lot so it has plenty of parking that's NOT shared by other shops around it) Keep up the...
Read moreI hate having to write this review. I used to take out of towners to In and Out because it's famous but I'd grab Y' Not and let then try it. AT THE LEAST they'd admit Y'Not had better fries, some even admitted the burgers were better.
Were. Past tense. Something happened. I think mostly they started using less salt. Today was a bit better, but even my mom, who refuses to cook with or add salt, had been complaining about the food being bland for a few months now.
Don't get me wrong, the menu is good. They used to have bison and ostrich, they got fish, pastrami... it sounds good. The food's just bland now.
The service is good too. They haven't messed up my order in a while. One time, they saw my pup in the car and gave her a free piece of bacon. In the drive in. That's rare, and it's why I hate having to mention the food taste just not bring what it used to be. I truly hope this feedback leads to change because I always like showing visitors when our local places can beat...
