Unfortunately this is not the typical review I like to leave. I believe supporting local is very important for small towns such as Torrington, that being said I like to spread my business throughout local diners pretty regularly. Being a restaurant business owner myself (very different style from this one), competing is not my style of business. Upon being greeted today in this establishment, I was rudely asked by the owner if I was there to “steal there ideas”. I pushed this aside and sat anyways trying to not think much of it. I then ordered my food, with an extra side of sour cream. I was told they were out, okay, not a big deal! Within minutes of getting our order, the table seated after us got their food with a large scoop of sour cream on top and then brought an extra side as well. I found this very rude to not give me and my guest equality as the other table not even 5 feet across. Mind you, we were the only two tables in there at the time. This will be our final time supporting this business which saddens me because their food is decent and I enjoy the sit down from time to time. Being treated unfairly due to an assumption, is not a proper way to run a business. I do hope your business the best but you have lost a set of local...

My boss and I run a restaurant in the same town as prados. We went into Prados today, it had turned into one of our favorite getaway spots to do lunch together. Little did we know today would be the last day that we would be dining in. We were very rudely greeted by the owner Who said we were only there to try and steal their ideas (we operate VERY different restaurants). We tried to have a good humor about it and took our seats to place our order. My boss ordered an extra side of sour cream and was told that they were completely out, so she couldn't have any. She said it was no problem. Not 5 minutes later a table next to us was served their food with not only sour cream on their plates but sour cream on the side. The food is usually quite good, the service varies from very good to very rude, and today was the last straw for us. Needless to say we will find another getaway spot for our lunches. We found the service quite rude and being greeted with the owners accusations upon simply walking in to sit and eat, we decided we...

These 2 stars go 100% to the staff... The food gets 0 stars. The staff were wonderful! They were friendly, checked in on me, etc. The food however? Flavorless except the salsa which is too freaking spicy to eat, even though you pay extra for chips and salsa. I ordered basic...cheese enchiladas, chips and salsa, and sopapillas. The cheese enchiladas had no enchilada sauce/flavor at all. They were greasy tortillas wrapped around melted cheese. The rice was flavorless as well. The beans tasted like Rosarita canned beans. The chips for the salsa.wer barely cooked making them super tough and chewy. As for the sopapillas? I'm not sure how you make fried bread dough flavorless but they succeeded! Even the cinnamon sugar couldn't add enough flavor to make them decent. I was amazed at how many cars are in the parking lot for such bland "Mexican" food. I have to say to the server though: you were wonderful and the ONLY reason this place is even...

La Familia Prado is the best of the best for Mexican restaurant in Torrington (and there are several I've tried) and feels like family. When you get there, don't be surprised if there are a few kids working in the restaurant. It's a family business after all. The service is outstanding and attentive and of course, very friendly. Every bit of the food tastes like it's made from scratch-- nothing seems like it's from a can around here. Not only that, everything just tastes healthy, light, just right. The menu is extensive. The restaurant is clean and smells great. Apparently, it's quite a popular place in Torrington although I was visiting from Washington, DC. I can't more highly recommend La Familia Prado. Well done!

The food was absolutely fantastic and the service was pretty good. That being said, the acoustics of the building are horrible. The walls are all painted cinderblocks with nothing to absorb sound so it gets insanely loud in here. If they would put up some sound dampening panels they would have a very lovely atmosphere here. 100% recommend you stop in if you are in the area and in the mood for Mexican food.

This Jalapeño Margarita alone earns them 5-stars! My mouth is equal refreshed and on fire! Just bear in mind they are closed from 2:30-4:30 and those menu pictures you might see on here on this page are out of date, though mostly still accurate. Just ask before you expect certain items. Also, the national shortages are affecting the availability of certain items, like everywhere. ¡Viva La Familia Prado!
