We hit up Anderson's on our way home from a long day of swimming and hiking with the kids. It definitely hit the spot. I just got your basic soft serve twist ice cream in a cone. (I'm all about a good old fashion soft serve in the summertime!) My husband ordered a shake/blizzard type thing. My two youngest got single scoops of cotton candy ice cream and of course enjoyed them. Then I can't remember what type my two oldest ordered but it was not soft serve. It was one of the hard churned ice creams which they also devoured. I also ordered an onion ring side basket and a fried pickle side. The onion rings were great but the fried pickles were definitely a miss. I was disappointed because I had just tried one from another restaurant at the taste of Buffalo and it was SO good but Anderson's fried pickles did not compare. They were small soggy pickles with light breading that basically fell and slid right off when you took your first bite. I only took 1 bite out of the 3 and passed them off but no one in our family who tried them liked them either. Oh well, they were cheap and worth a try. I would definitely order the onion rings again though because those were good! We got our ice cream right away but had to wait awhile for just our 2 simple sides of food. There's usually a long line at the food side though. By the time we got the food we were pretty much done with the ice cream. But the servers are nice and will bring the food right to your table. I do like this location. It's not the one we usually frequent since there's one closer to our house but I would go here again. Comparable service but a bit...
Read moreFriendly staff and super clean. I cant think of a cleaner restaurant. And i dont know where they time traveled to to find such polite friendly hard working young staff i was amazed how well they handeled a huge crowd coming in from a bus. As far as food i was underwhelmed. Went here to get beef on weck and thought it is a lil exspencive and i personaly found it a unflavorfull. Mabey their burgers are better? The sides were very disappointing and not worth it curlyfries (which are unseasoned) and Mac which was honestly amung the most bland disappointing Mac I've ever had (and at $8). Beef seemed like a decent portion and good qulaity. 4 sandwiches and 2 sides came to over $50 no drinks or extras it seemed steep but then again in this economy's its becoming the norm I just wasn't wowed enough to love it. Its cool they offer some things for different dietary needs for both food and desserts. There are people who love a more simple food as comfort food and the overall environment is very friendly so though this place wasn't for me dosnt mean you wont love it. Its a nice clean family friendly restaurant just not a personal favorite for my spouce and myself who enjoy seasoning and flavor. There's no reason not to check it out yourself, they have been around for ages there must be good reason...just dont get the mac! . I hear great things about...
Read moreWhile visiting family in Clarence NY (Buffalo area) for Memorial Day, we found ourselves on a mission to get some ice cream when Anderson’s was mentioned. Not being from the area , I had never heard of it. At first I thought it would be just soft-serve but it was more than just soft-serve ice cream. There was the usual chocolate and vanilla flavors and several more flavor options,as well. I’m a vanilla/chocolate fan so I got the twist and was able to compare it to my usual soft-serve experiences that did not compare to the thick, creamy consistency of Anderson s frozen custard. It was impressive. I wanted more as soon as I finished my medium cone. Unlike other establishments or soft-serve vendors this friozen custard was not melting all over my cone and fingers right away. It was firm enough to stay in the cone but soft enough to be dispensed by a soft-serve machine. But it was not just another ice cream. Custardy soft, tasty, and satisfying.
The seating was indoors and outdoors on a beautiful sunny day. I would have liked to sit outside but we ended up at a comfortable booth indoors.
There were fridges inside filled with take-home items such as ice cream cakes and sandwiches.
I would definitely return there when I visit...
