I've dined here several times after discovering it a few months ago and WOW, the food here is truly spectacular!! Incredibly flavorful, hot, fresh, homemade ..simply delicious! It is clear the chef(s) take pride in their food and in the restaurant as a whole. I think many people do take out but they have a small & charming dine-in area, complete with beautiful lace tablecloths (under plastic, smart to keep those tablecloths looking prestine!) Old school touches like hot tea in the kettle as soon as you sit, and the juiciest orange slices when your meal is complete. Super clean! Had the same man as our waiter each time; not sure if he is the owner but he is SO nice and very attentive! I grew up eating fantastic Chinese food and over the years, there has been such a sharp decline in quality (generally), which has made me so sad. Finding Golden Hill was like "coming home" and rembering what truly delicious Chinese food is supposed to taste like! Yes I'm being dramatic lol, but it's true!
Let's talk food - we've tried some classics as well as dishes from their authentic Chinese menu - everything has been awesome. Posted pics: General Tso (lots of actual chili peppers), pork fried dumplings, pork lo mein, sweet and sour pork (with peppers and pineapple), beef w/ scallion and onion, salt & pepper pork and Singapore sweet chili shrimp (this was a nightly special and it was amazingggg! huge whole prawns with the head so you know it's legit!) Seriously, would give them 10...
Read moreI ordered four meals on Christmas, it's been our tradition for years but it has been increasingly difficult to find good Chinese food in or near cheektowaga. I'm sorry but the food was absolutely terrible. The sauce on the Kung pao shrimp was like no other I've ever had and that's not a good thing. Same for the sauce on the sesame chicken, it was more like duck sauce, overly sweet and not good. It was very overcooked, hard to chew and mostly breading. Also got the sweet and sour chicken which was overcooked and soggy. The crab Rangoons and egg rolls tasted like they were made two weeks ago, very stale and tasted weird. Finally the wonton soup was gross. The broth was like straight chicken stock, very bland, and the wonton were fragments and so mushy I had to spit it out, totally inedible. This may be the worst chinese food I have ever had. If that wasn't bad enough, I was missing like half my order which I didn't realize til I got home and had to drive back to get what was forgotten. Oh yeah and their prices were quite a bit higher than average which led me to believe it would have been higher quality. It was not. I don't know how in the hell this place got so many good reviews. The one bright spot was the front desk people who were very friendly and apologetic but damn that...
Read moreGod I absolutely love this place, it is hands down one of the best Asian restaurants in all of Western New York. Well they have traditional Chinese on the menu they also have Vietnamese which is just as good. Besides fantastic takeaway, they have a fantastic dine-in experience which is something you have to try for yourself. The waiter is extremely attentive, brings ice water and a hot pot of tea whether you ask for it or not. Their lunch specials are amazing I had the garlic ginger chicken which was to die for. And the prices beyond reasonable especially when prices have gone up everywhere else. Also which as far as I'm concerned is amazing if you can't finish what you're eating and you need take away boxes, they take the meal back to the kitchen and box it for you. Come on amazing customer service, definitely give these people business they are a cut above the rest. Thank you for the wonderful dining experience, I have one and only suggestion. Love the traditional music in the background maybe we could play a few more tracks instead of the same song on repeat over and over again. Other than that loved...
