Manhattan Express Pizza — Restaurant in Town of Amsterdam

A really saucy pizza, but not in a good way.

Placed an order over the phone for a small Chicken Teriyaki pizza and Fried Calamari, was told it would be about 30 minutes. On my way over I got a call but I figured it was just the place letting me know it was ready, turns out they were trying to let me know they were out of calamari. Oh well.

Arrived and paid for the pizza, coming to just under $20. The pizza look good, smelled good, and had a nice weight to it. I was a little disappointed about the calamari, but not enough to dock any stars. Especially since they did call me to see if I wanted anything different.

Back home I found the pizza to be, well, too sweet. I think they perchance went a little too ham with the teriyaki sauce, resulting in it overpowering the more meaty and savory flavors. I had also requested the garlic parmesan crust, but the flavor was just not there, it was so bland and dull. Paired with the sweet flavor of the sauce, it almost had the effect of becoming closer to fried dough than anything like pizza crust. In the end, while it still satisfied me, or in other words "I ate it because I was hungry", it was not great by any means.

I think if they had gone much lighter with the drizzling of the teriyaki sauce, the rest of the pizza would have stood a chance at fighting to be present...

Would not give this place 1 star! Completely disappointed for the last time. Ordered an Italian mix home got home opened it. For one i asked for Mayo and oil and ving… got a very small amount of Mayo no oil or Italian… very little lettuce and hardly any meat on it. My husband ordered calzone with meatball and onion… he had one meatball cut in half in the whole thing. This is not my first issue and swore I’d never go back after the first issue with the owner raising his voice and being very unprofessional to me on the phone when I called to ask questions about the menu for a party. He felt the need to raise his voice to me and said “don’t tell me what my menu says!” Needless to say I never ordered the food for the party… I gave a 300$ order to someone else… his loss not mine. I knew I should not have gave them another try! Very poor service very unprofessional rude workers and food is not worth the money! I’ll take my business elsewhere along with many others I’ve...

I wouldn’t even give this place 1 star. The customer service is horrible. I asked for a roast beef sub with extra Russian and extra onions. I get the sub with no extra onions and the tiniest bit of RANCH.... On a roast beef sub. I called to say that was not what I ordered and they told me their lines were recorded and that I was wrong. I said I did not want the sub and asked for a refund and they refused to give me one. I also ordered a 2 liter soda and they brought 2 cans. The meatball sub we got was also COLD. Still no refund. The guy was completely disrespectful and when asking for a refund and for them to pick up the food he said he would call the cops on me. The food was disgusting the first time we went and figured we would give them a second chance only to be disappointed again. DO NOT GO HERE.
