Starbucks Coffee Company — Restaurant in Town of Amsterdam

To be honest, I have traditionally preferred Peet's or independent cafes, but since moving from San Francisco to the Mohawk Valley, this has become my espresso oasis. While many will prefer the various coffee drinks filled with steamed milk and some sweet syrup, I usually order a triple espresso with an inch of extra water. This is not as diluted as an Americano, but allows one to sit a savor the taste, which would be over too quickly without the extra water. High praise for their pumpkin bread as well, and their gingerbread during the holiday season. The staff at this location have been consistently sweet to me too. I really wish they sold newspapers as other locations do. Only one major criticism--a macchiato is traditionally a demitasse of espresso topped with the foam from steamed milk; what Starbuck's serves under that name is a large beverage with a bit of espresso and a ton of steamed milk (essentially a latte) with a huge amount of caramel syrup. I think an Italian ordering this beverage might feel Americans completely misunderstood...

This Starbucks is easily the worst Starbucks I’ve ever been to. The workers always seem to be messing around, talking, or otherwise not doing anything despite how long the line is. I don’t really care about talking or whatever but they literally stop what they’re doing and talk. I have just been standing in line for 20 minutes and have not moved an inch- should be literally impossible for a coffee shop.

Also, they frequently make drinks wrong. Recently I told them it was clearly made wrong (didn’t look like the pictures or any of the other ones we have got) and the girl literally just said we were wrong and that was the correct way (it wasn’t). To add on to this problem they are frequently missing key ingredients even if you get there right in the morning (things like lemonade for all the lemonade featured items, or fruit, or syrups). We order from the Amsterdam Starbucks almost daily. I usually order the same drink, Venti Violet Drink or Pink Drink. I love the berries and the coconut milk. Three times now I've got it and there are no berries, no coconut milk and it's clear. If I was physically at the location I would send it back, but usually a co-worker places and picks up the order. I have tried to call, and I get Target and no one picks up the phone at Starbucks. I enjoy Starbucks, but feel my money is not worth spending there when I can't get what I order.
