John & Mary's — Restaurant in Town of Arcade

First time reviewer... 3 strikes you're out! Was there in January- ordered 2 subs. Service lacking at best- not rude but very apathetic. Very slow to get food- not busy and after lunch. Subs OK but not worth the $7. Second time- take out early summer. Again, 2 subs - long wait and poor service (younger girls each time) still not stellar for a paying customer. But they are kids and what can you expect I suppose?!?!? Got home... major "gastro-issues" BOTH of us = not fun at all and can't prove it was the subs- even though that's all we had along with a soda we purchased there. :( This past Saturday. On way through (I know I should have learned) but we were starving and we love J&M subs in general! This time they were busy. LOTS of folks in the kitchen working (or at least running around- looked like there wasn't much guidance)- girl at counter was "rude", like taking another order was putting her out. Waited (along with others along the wall) other patrons complaining about wait as well. One said she ordered ONE SUB. Was just about to go get $ back when she called my name. Even before others,so you can imagine the glares I got. Especially from the lady who only ordered 1 sub. But maybe their orders were more complex. From walk in to walk out was 26 minutes for 2 cold subs!!! Husband waiting in truck and noted the times.

So anyway we drive away.... just about to take a bite and I see a small live fly in the lettuce!!!!!!!! Tossed both subs and $14 out the window. I realize a fly in the sub wasn't their "fault" - AND I know people can have a bad day..... BUT add it all up over the past year... it was the last straw for that location. We love John & Mary's subs- always have. But not going back there regardless of how...

Where do I even begin? Ordered for the first time here last night around 9:10pm. Ordered 2 chicken finger subs. Had to repeat order at least 6 times to the girl that took our order. Phone disconnects mid-order, call back and have to re-do our entire order. Again, repeated about more 3 times. We came from springville, so it was a good 1 hr drive to & from this restaurant. We pick up our order. Go home, settle down, and then go to eat our dinner. I grab my sub out of the paper bag that it comes in and it was not even wrapped the way it should be. It was rolled like a tootsie roll, with twisted ends. Completely ridiculous. Whatever. I go to take a bite and notice yellow American cheese on my sub. Yellow cheese. On a chicken finger sub. Disgusting. I asked for the white sub cheese. 9 times, because we repeated our order at least that many. The lettuce was soggy, brown, & wilted. Again, disgusting. The roll was not toasted. Just a plain, raw roll. Barely any sauce on fingers. I took 2 bites and threw it away. It was inedible. I usually do not post reviews, but I felt compelled too because lately, it seems that everywhere we get food from these days, it’s always extremely poor quality and our order never correct. Do you know how frustrating it is to get the wrong order 9/10 times you get take out? Or get poor quality, inedible food? I’m absolutely tired of it. You people working at restaurants need to step the hell up and do your job. If you cannot care or bother to get a simple order correct, that’s alarming. And these restaurants hiring these inept employees need to start caring about their businesses, because they are running them into the ground. This was my first time & my last time ordering from a John & Mary’s. And you have your lazy, incompetent...

Man oh man, I've missed this place!! I'm originally from the area but I moved out of state. So my wife and I came back to visit, and this place is a gem!! The staff is always friendly and always cleaning up throughout the day to keep it looking top notch. Plenty of indoor seating, and if the weather is nice there's outdoor seating as well! On to the main event, the food! It is spectacular!! It's a moderate sized menu, but it does include something for everyone. I can only eat wings when I visit WNY, the bar for wings has been set. So naturally we got wings and ordered them extra crispy, that's the secret! I last lived here over 5 years ago, and I firmly believe that the food has only gotten better!! I will definitely be back to this place when I am back...
