Canal View Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Town of Arcadia

So the food was good , apart from the large piece of plastic I pulled out of my mouth . I stopped eating and gave it to a waitress who said my meal would be comped . Though I had no intention of not paying for my meal . I went there for the soup and salad bar because I remembered how good it used to be . Well I went up to pay and my waitress implied that either I put in or it came off my clothes . I got the impression that because we got only unlimited soup and salad that , that she thought that was all we could afford and I was probably just trying to get a free meal . She said " we don't have anything like that here so idk " . She kept saying it over and over . It was just insulting that she would imply something like that . I'm not rich but I do well for myself , and the last thing I'm doing is something like that . She did seem polite but it didn't matter with what she implied . I used to eat at canal view when I lived in town years ago. I'm back but definitely won't be going there ever again . I also felt like I was being rushed out . I had just ordered and she brought the check as soon as I got my food . Just a bad experience . The waitresses used to be so nice in there . Idk what happened but they need to work on...

The only place i go for breakfast!!!! However since the owners swapped the quality has gone down some and prices went up! It seems like the cooks dont care or are pressed to get the food out as fast as possible and forgetting the type of quality control the previous owner had!

UPDATE!!! So 3 months ago i posted my first review! Shortly After posting my review I placed another order and had who I believe as the owner call my wife ince she figured out that the phone number was linked to the review!

She was very very nice while apologizing for the experience and refunded me completely with the only requirement to give them another try! She continued by saying they are tryin there best and would love to make it up! To me that shows that they care about not only there restaurant but the customers that spend there money there! Idk i was taken back by this gesture completely!!! Since then we have gone back and not only are we treated with respect and very nicely the homemade chicken and rice soup was very good! Thank you to whoever you where that called my wife it was her birthday that day and was a very nice and very appreciated...

We have been here many times and loved it. We went today and my son got pancakes that tasted so bitter, no one would eat them. I mentioned this to the usually helpful staff and nothing was done about it.

Update 9/5/25 We have been here several times before and have always enjoyed it. The food is mediocre but the staff is always so nice. However, we went this evening and ordered a hot dog kids meal. Having 2 children, I asked to simply add one hot dog to the dish. I was told that was doable and she didnt mention an additional cost. However, at the register, they added $6 and change to the total on our receipt. When we asked why, they told us it was the cost of the 2nd hot dog. They charge us for a full second kids meal. When we explained that no one had informed us of this up-charge and that it made no sense to charge the price of a full meal for a single hot dog, they simply shrugged and walked off. This is our second time being blown off when we brought something up. We will likely stop visiting this restaurant due to the fact that management doesnt hold the same friendliness and care that...
