TAKE OUT

A group of us have been ordering drinks & wings from Voodoo Happy Hour menu once a week, since July.

First time I called, I was told I had to call back at 4:30pm, if I'm picking up at 5pm because they're closed from 3-4:30pm. Ok, no problem.

I call at 4:30pm. I'm told I have to order food with our drinks. As per State Mandate but NOT stated on their website. Ok, no problem.

I order a few of the Adult Capri drinks. Then I try to order a few beers, when I'm told, sorry you can only order the Capri drinks for take out. Also, not stated on their website. But ok, no problem.

I try to give her our address for delivery, when she tells me they don't deliver. According to their website, they do. But ok, I'll pick up.

About a week or so later, I place another order. I order 6 or 7 Adult Capris when I'm told, sorry you can only order 5 per order. Fine, I'll place 2 separate orders, each with an order of food. She gives me the total & it's off by $4/6. I ask why & I'm told anything more then 3 drinks will be charged regular price. Ok, fine.

Each week we place 2 orders, following their requirements. Then another change. Basically I was told if I order 7 drinks, I have to order $110 worth of food. Needless to say I was not pleased & we didn't order.

I just called them to confirm their policy for this week. Oh my, surprise!! Their rules have changed AGAIN!!

Order 1drink, you must order $17 worth of food. Order 2 drinks, you must order $34 worth of food. 3 Drinks, you must order $54 worth of food. Maximum amount of drinks per order is now 4. Which would mean 4 of us have to place an order & 4 of us have to go & pick up.

Well, we've had it!!!! They change policies based on their moods & none of it is listed on their website. Plus every single time they mess up the order. The people taking the order over the phone are at times difficult to understand & at times they didn't understand us.

Their loss. This would have been a lucrative opportunity for them, as the amount of people increased with each order. We've moved on to another restaurant whose website is concise. No hidden exceptions, no minimums or maximums & no changes as their...

I have only had good experiences at this restaurant, it is one of my favorites. Tonight however, I had a very different experience. Our waitress was kind however there were a few things that ruined the experience.

  1. the apps were brought out with the entrees. We asked that she leave our seafood boils in the bag so that they didn’t get cold while we ate our apps first. Okay, no big deal.
  2. we then asked if she could pour our boils onto the tray when we were ready to eat. Half of the mussels fell onto the table. Ok…mistakes happen no problem.
  3. no bucket for our shells. Ok, no problem maybe she’s new at this job.
  4. when I started to eat I realized the mussels were extremely dry(over cooked) and huge in size. It was no appetizing. I asked the manager if these were regular black mussels since I always order them and they are never like this. He said yes and that sometimes they are just different sizes. As I was eating I just really did not enjoy the mussels. Very dry, hard to eat. I told the waitress and she said no problem she will take it off the bill.

Now, if you’ve gotten mussels from here you know that they give a lot so they covered half my plate. I did not want to eat them so I put them all in the bucket. They’re garbage right? I get the bill and the mussels are not taken off. I ask the waitress and she is telling me that I ate the mussels because they were in the bucket. I explained why they were in the bucket- I was taking my food to go and did not want them- they are garbage!!! The manager came over and continued to argue with me.

Long story short, with everything that happened I still would have given her a decent tip. You never know what someone is going through, nobody is perfect. But the fact that she argued with me and then the manager continued to as well- she lost out on a tip- as well as a customer who comes here often.

HIRE BETTER PEOPLE. I’m am never one to complain, I’m a server myself. But come on… if you really needed to go that far to see if the mussels were eaten you could have checked the bucket and you would have seen that they were not eaten.

Terrible terrible...

Today was my annual birthday dinner with my family and my little brother. It's both our birthdays so we get to choose where we want to go out to eat with all of us. So I had decided that we should try the New Restaurant Voodoo Crab in Massapequa and let me tell you, it was definitely better than I expected. The food was good, definitely reminds me of hook and reel up in Hicksville or sexy crab in Levittown… Food is definitely comparable and was very good. But What made this experience AMAZING was the impeccable customer service that we received! Lilliana was our waitress and she was wonderful to say the least… If I can give a 10 star rating for service, I would've given them a higher star. But the best part was the owner of the restaurant coming around to make sure everything was well with us. He definitely went above and beyond making sure that we were completely satisfied. And besides singing the regular, happy birthday to us, they surprised us with a couple of free desserts because of our birthdays. Not sure if that's a normal practice but I'd have to save out of the three restaurants mentioned, Voodoo Crab is now my absolute favorite because of the service! If you're looking for a great atmosphere, with great food, very fair pricing, and the best service I've had in a long time… I would highly recommend Voodoo Crab to you! The helpings are definitely bigger than I expected because of the price… Which is a good thing... excellent thing actually… and just overall what a great evening with the family Liliana thank you for making my birthday dinner such a great experience and so much fun, you went above and beyond and Bruce. Thank you for making my birthday just extra special tonight… What a great closing to my birthday weekend! Your restaurant is one of my absolute favorites now! Thank you guys for everything you made this year's birthday...

I checked out Voodoo Crab in Massapequa for their lunch special and it’s honestly a steal. For $17, you get a combo with a drink, appetizer, and entrée. If you want the Cajun Boil, it’s just a dollar more. I started with the Voodoo Wings Buffalo sauce on the side, best decision so you can control the spice. For my entrée, I had the Crispy Fish Po’boy. Really good, but they are very generous with the mayo, so if you’re not a mayo fan, ask for condiments on the side. It comes with Cajun Fries (basically potato wedges) that were crispy outside and fluffy inside. Their unsweetened iced tea also hits the spot. My dad ordered the Popcorn Shrimp that comes with the Voodoo Sauce (a spicy mayo) for his appetizer. He got the Cajun Boil with Snow Crab and Headless Shrimp. It comes with six nicely sized shrimps, and the boil includes potatoes, corn, and toast to soak up the sauce. He went with medium spice, but if you really like heat, go for the Hot & Fire level. We also tried the Baked Clams. They serve them whole (not chopped up), which I really liked. Wish l I had ordered the dozen instead of half. The staff was excellent our waiter was great and the whole team was super attentive and on top of everything. The place is very clean, with plenty of parking. I liked it so much I even signed up for their rewards program. Definitely going back to try more.

Nice vibe, may be too loud for some but we enjoyed our visit. Our server, Ashley, was patient, informative, and attentive. This was our first visit and had a lot of questions for ordering. Menu had a nice selection of choices. We followed our servers advice and were very satisfied. We tried the crispy calamari appetizer 5 🌟 nice portion, fresh calamari, and yummy sauce, ask for extra. Also tried Veggie fried rice alongside our Boil. Also was excellent flavor. The Boil was snowcrab 1 portion, shrimp 2 portions, sausage 1 portion. Lemon pepper sauce medium spice. It was excellent. All the food was hot and fresh. The sauce was sooo good and got better as it cooled and thickened. Would put it on anything it was so tasty. Medium spice level was not too spicey so next time I'd up the level. The corn pieces and potatoes were so good smothered in the sauce. Overall great experience and prices were very fair for quality of food that is fresh and delicious. Compared to other places I thought the price was excellent for 2 people. Even had a glass of wine and still very fair. We will definitely go here again and hope to have the same experience. May want to make a reservation on weekends bc the place is busy.

Had a great experience, will be returning to explore the rest of the menu :D Food: we got the fried fish n potato wedges for our appetizer (crispy and seasoned well) and for the seafood boil we did: crab legs, green mussels, clams, tiger shrimp (no specific comments, everything was quite tasty / voodoo experience sauce - mild (I have a low spice tolerance but this was perfect for me, very flavorful / corn, potatoes (nice palette cleanser in between bites, like the sweetness/starchiness paired nicely w everything else). I appreciate interactive eating experiences so this place was perfect for that. Messy but fun and absolutely worth it Drinks: I must come back and try the entire menu bc everything sounds so yummy. I had the blood orange sparkler (I think that was the name) and it was scrumptious. Service: Our waitress was so sweet and friendly, she provided very helpful responses to our oddly specific questions. She deserves all the tips. Ambiance: The music…..10/10. Idk what the vibes are at night but had me dancing in my seat. The space itself was very clean and nice vibes. The bathroom also was very clean and aesthetically pleasing.
