I normally don’t write reviews, but my experiences at this bagel shop have been so consistently negative that I feel I have to speak up. As a Black customer, I have never once felt welcome here. Each time I’ve visited, the attitude toward me has been unfriendly at best and openly dismissive at worst.
On one occasion, I placed a large order over the phone $48 worth of food and when I arrived to pick it up, I was ignored and refused service. This was not just frustrating, it was humiliating. What makes it worse is that this wasn’t an isolated event. Every single visit has come with the same cold, unwelcoming behavior.
No business should operate in a way that makes certain groups of people feel unwanted or invisible, but unfortunately, that is exactly how this place treats Black customers. It’s incredibly disappointing to see this kind of behavior in 2025, when fairness, respect, and equal treatment should be the bare minimum.
If you are Black, or if you simply value businesses that treat people equally regardless of who they are, I strongly urge you to take your money elsewhere. No one deserves to pay for food while being treated as though they don’t belong. Until this store changes its culture, it is absolutely not the place for...
Read moreYears ago, this was my favorite bagel place and deli. In recent years, the original owner sold to new management. Today, I went in to get three sandwiches on a roll - pretty basic - turkey on a roll with lettuce tomatoes mayo etc. The price on the board states $9.49 for a roll sandwich; however, when I got to the register, each sandwich on a roll was $13.50 before tax. How can a simple turkey sandwich on a roll be close to $14? I ordered three sandwiches that totaled to be about $45.00. This was not a hero, or a large sandwich in any capacity, just a roll. When I asked the manager why the difference in price, he stated that mayo lettuce and tomatoes are all extra add ons and the only way to get it for $9.49 is to only get the meat, not even the bread. This is false advertisement to the extreme and this place went from 5 stars to 0 stars. I will not be going back here again. Rip off. For all my Lindenhurst friends who used to go here, it's time to find a new deli. New ownership is atrocious, rude and ripping customers...
Read moreI recently visited Wellwood Bagels to pick up an order, and I was extremely disappointed with the service. When I arrived, the staff, particularly this one girl with behind the counter, completely ignored me. Despite standing there waiting to be acknowledged, they continued to help other customers as if I didn't exist. A simple "hello" and "how can I help you?" goes a long way in making customers feel valued.
Customer service should always be the number one priority, but this experience made me feel like my presence didn’t matter at all. It’s one thing to be busy, but it’s another to blatantly ignore someone who's clearly waiting for assistance.
I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and trains their staff to be more attentive and respectful to all customers. Based on my experience, I recommend that everyone skip this place unless they want to be treated with the...
